Z in the snow
I just recently got my Z and the winter is over here but I am wondering howthey are in the bad weather. I don't plan on taking my Zfor a ride in any kind of serious weather but how is it when it comes to bad roads? I just wanna know if a dusting of snow is gonna be weather that should worry me.
no joke... there must of been 20 threads with this same exact topic... and i mean typed out exactly the same
answer:
z + snow + stock tires = death
z + snow + great tires + bad driving = death
z + snow + great tires + good driving = caution.
The end

I think this question gets asked a lot by people who know that this car isn't all that great in the snow, but they probably think "hey, I'm gonna post the 11,346th thread about this issue, and hopefully someone will respond with 'yeah, the Z is super good in the snow, go for it!'"
The General Consensus is to buy a second set of "Winter Rims" with snow tires on them for at least the back of the car and use them when you are in snow. As a minum a good set of all seasons from Avon, Falken or BFG are reccomended if you dont want to buy a send set of wheels.
Stock rubber is horrible.

I thought that they weren't horrible until I watched a Taurus with all seasons negotiate the same section of road, and they had exactly the same problems I did.

I used to live in Ohio. I had 3 Lightnings and a couple Mark VIII's and drove them all year. As was posted earlier, good tires and carefull driving cannot be over stated. I also rinsed my rides in the local self spray car car wash with water only anytime I had any crap on the car/truck, daily at times.
Risky, but it can be done.

Don't listen to these guys. The Z is the perfect snow machine. Front engine Rear wheel drive cars are the official car design of ski patrol missions! First, drive with all the TCS and electronic crap off- it just causes you to lose traction. Next, pick up an awesome set of high performance tires, R-compound cheater slicks like Hoosiers are the best. Ignore all the "summer use only" crap printed about them, they're just worried about lawsuits from bad drivers, but everyone knows there's no such thing as a bad driver on R-compounds. Finally, floor it at every light and use the brakes at the last minute to maximize weight transfer and therefore traction. ALWAYS accelerate aggressively with the wheel turned and don't be afraid to use the e-brake to steer. Follow these guidelines and you'll pass snow tire shod subarus like a pro and make their pansy drivers feel like little girls with all your Chuck Norris-like studliness.

Are you in HoneyBrook, PA? Just curious because I'm from there.
To bcm157, honestly these guys are right, this question gets asked every week. There's at least 20 threads you could research to see what people recommend. Good luck in the snow.

i drove on stock bridgestones with VDC-disabled...
all i can say is...
1. tow hook ON
2. keep cell numbers of guys with trucks and SUVs handy
3. drive slow (if u get passed by a civic, who cares)
4. if going in an incline, throttle control and dont lose momentum (if u lose momentum u roll into the ditch and u need to cell ur friend with the 4x4...)
5. know how to do the low speed drift (if u go faster than 20-30 in the snow ur asking for trouble...)
6. if ur car is stuck ... (call ur friend with 4x4 dont try to spin tires ur way out cuz if u dont have winter treads... its over)
7. have fun and be safe
