Default 287hp and New MReV engine

I currently own a 03 track and i can tell u guys i love the car. I was wondering wut the differences are between the new 300hp Rev up motors as opposed to the 03 287hp engines? Is there anyway to make the 03 engine up to par with the new ones? What parts are necessary to make a even match? My frend has a 05 anniv. and is planning to get the Mrev kit. We were going to compare after he has installed the kit to see if the low end and high end can be evenly matched by aftermarket parts. Any input would be great Thanks!!!

search is your best friend and the only way to get what you want is trade in your car and get a rev up car, otherwise its not worth getting a new engine and ecu. plus the difference in performance is not that enough to even come close to justifying either.

Well I have driven his car and i can feel the difference in the high revs but it seems like i can take off faster cuz of the TQ. We haven't really ran the cars up high yet but im sure his will gain on me once it gets up there

300hp has stonger forged internals, 7000RPM redline stock, 300hp, 260 lb-ft of torque. It also has the VTC on the exhaust cam as well as the intake cam. It also featured a redesigned lower plenum.

Would replacing the cams and upgrading the plenum make up for the additional power and rev on the Rev-up engines? Is there other ways such as ecu flashed that may remap to make the 2 platforms perform equally??

Yeah, we should demand a Bill of Materials for both and then compare the two. That will tell us which parts are different. VTC on the exhaust is definately a plus, and probably the reason why the rev-up gives more top end. High performance Hondas all feature this exhaust cam-change, which is why their high performance motors rev so high all the time.

Has someone proven that it has forged internals? I haven't heard any concrete evidence yet...

Personally I would rather have the low end.

I do enjoy the TQ feel on my car but would also want it to perform just as well on high end. I was wondering if the power difference can be made up by simply adding bolt ons and Ecu reset? Im still very unfimiliar with the new rev-up engines and how i can make a even match by doing minor aftermarket modifications. Of course breaking into internals would help a lot. Would it be a pretty even match up with basic bolt ons on each car ( intake, exhaust, plenum spacer, etc.)???

I did do some research... and yeah the rev-up engines do respond better to bolt-ons. What is truly necessary to make my 287 a worthy competitor to the new rev-ups??

mc350z thanks much for your input.... I was wondering if the parts (cams, lower plenum) off the new rev-up engines can be easily swapped over to the 287 platform? And is it worth it to do this.

Good point......just wondering mc350z wut platform and mods are you running. Have you had a chance to compare the 2 engines with mild tune?
