Default RIP 03 350z... gone :(

I got my brand new clutchmasters stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel put in and after about 20 mins of driving, my car started to fishtail for no reason. to make a long story short my passenger side hit the wall on the freeway @ 55mph or 60mph from the fishtailing, after that sent me across 4 lanes head on into the median wall, injuring my girlfriend, myself and the 350z is TOTALLED, anyone ever heard of a bad or improper clutch replacement causing the car to go out of control. i had a nissan dealership in south beach do the work and they charged me $952... just thinking maybe someone else had this misforture or ever heard of such a thing.
my insurance is looking into the clutch installation

Check your work sheet, did it show that the dealership took it for a test drive afterwards to see if the install was okay?

Yeah, cars don't fishtail for no reason. Can you recall what you were doing at the time? Had you just shifted? Oil on the road, perhaps? Glad you lived to tell. Hope the injuries to you and your GF weren't too bad.

Glad to hear that you and your passenger are alive. Need photos of the car. The clutch and flywheel do not cause vehicles to loose control. People do.

i was crusing in traffic, alot of traffic and was in the middle lane, went to get over in the slow lane and had to down shift from 6th to 5th because i was only going like 55-60 @ the time, when I shifted the car started fishtailing, sending me right into the wall. I dont care what kinda power your z has, you cant break the tires loose in 5th in traffic by floorinng it or showing off. I was just crusing in traffic mindin my own business when it started fishtailing

Lets not be so quick to judge, There could have been a mechanical failure that partially or fully engaged the clutch when he meant to have it disengaged. Perhaps it locked up and the then the rear end went.

thats why the truth needs to come out! if the story anit right...then we are goin to assume..wutever he said was the truth...but seems like theres a 6th to 5th down shift..and Heavy FOOT to the gas pedal... clutch grab or POPED then fishhhhhtail...HMmmmm sounds right?

Any chance you mis-shifted into third instead of fifth? That could have done the job if you shifted and punched it.

Maybe down shifted to slow, did not rev match as the engine rpms will drop faster now than before flywheel was installed, causing the tires to break free and coupled with inexperince casued said incident.
Just a thought...

Well, you'd have to have a qualified mechanic look at the car and be able to prove that something mechanical was at fault before you could blame anyone but yourself.

Wow, did you consider not telling the insurance company about the clutch?

I doubt they'd deny your claim, but it's a thought....

He has a base model. No VDC to save him.

Even so, going 50-60 in 5th is still only like what 2500RPM, hardly enough to break them loose. Drop her into third, possibly, but not from 6th to 5th, at least not stock. Though I do agree VDC probably would've helped with the loss of control.

I'm glad to here you and gf are ok. Either way, I wouldn't worry about your insurance picking it up, people wreck for no good reason all the time, but it would be nice if the investigators could find some mechanical failure.

Hey dude,
Sorry to hear about it.
Iggy told me what happened because he knew I had a Z as well.

He just said you had some mods and wasn't sure what.

I havent heard of that being a problem on any other board I read..

Glad you guys are alright.

Sounds like a screwed up install, or defected product, I dont think its possible to have the rear end break loose with what you did, talk to who ever installed it.
