Default A Question ABout Our Paint...

I think just about all of us can agree that Nissan really skimped on the paint for the 350. I know that <typically> aftermarket parts are supposed to be of a superior quality to all the OEM factory components of the car. So does this apply to paint jobs as well? I've only had my SB for about a year and I've already got some pretty bad scratches from various run-ins with rock chips and dumb-asses who park too closely. I anticipate repainting the vehicle, but I was just curious if an after-market paint job would be better than the original or is all paint pretty much the same?

thanks for any help you guys can provide..

Yes, that can apply to paint jobs as well. You can spend $5k+ on a nice paint job that will have a thicker clear coat than the factory paint job. It will last and look a lot better.

Not to put off but we have discussed the advantages and disadvantages of current auto painting techniques vs those used 10 years ago.

Everyone wants perfect finish, but when you check the price of a quality paint job, you might change your mind.

Well, since it's my first new car <ever> I'd like to keep it looking nice and preserve it as long as I can. I figure if the 300ZX can still to this day stand out amongst a crowd of vehicles, imagine what the 350Z will look like in a few years compared to what's on the road then.

My Z is my third Nissan, and they've all had crappy paint. My Honda had great paint...it was 16 years old when my cousin totalled it, and there wasn't a spec of oxidation on it.
