Bad Z experience
WHat's up peoples?
I just wanted toshare and vent on my newly purchased Z. I bought a 2003 350z with 50,000 miles on it. I was told that it was a certified pre owned vehicle. The first day that I drove the Z home I noticed the clutch pedal felt funny. My mechanic told me that the clutch was bad. I took it back to the dealer so that they could take a look at it. I got it back 3 days later. I was told that the clutch lines had some air bubbles but nothing to worry about. I did not buy the story. I insisted to them that they look over the clutch. They had some mechanic take a look at the vehicle. He concluded that the clutch was normal for a vehicle with that many miles on it. I decided to take it to Nissan. The mechanic drove the car a little and said that the clutch needed to be repaired now. I took it back to the original dealer where I purchased the Z. They did not want any thing to do with the car. I finally had a buddy call them and say that he was an attorney. They agreed to take the Z to a Nissan dealer. The original dealer called me and told me that the car needed a new Tranny, clutch, and flywheel. The tranny is under warranty. The clutch is being taken care of by the dealer. The bad thing is that I have to pay for the flywheel which cost 1090 dollars. I have not driven the car for more than a week at a time. I probably had the car with me for 3 weeks. I am fed up with these people. They have my car now and it'seen two weeks. I am with out a car, and with out 1090 dollars to pay the dealer. The customer service of the original dealer is terrible and they are very rude. I called the Better Business Bureau, and channe 7 on your side. I am just frustrated and I just want to drive my Z. I want to mod it a bit but cannot because I have spent so much money on the car.
Any feedback or comments would be apreciated.
P.S.

I'd like to give you sympathy but I don't know that I'm surprised. You bought the first year of sports car with 50,000 miles on it. Actually, if you get a new clutch and tranny for the price of the flywheel you have done well.
Chalk it up to experience, quit gripping, & enjoy the new ride.

You paid $1090 for a flywheel!?!? You got ripped. Its probably OEM also. You can get an JWT for $400.

Your warranty couldn't be good for much longer anyway, could it? I thought the drivetrain warranty was only good for 60k mile?
Did you not test drive the car? You said you noticed it on your way home from the dealer, why didn't you notice it during the test drive?
That's a great opportunity to upgrade the clutch/fly nonetheless.

I test drove the car. I did not think anything of it, untill when I was driving home. The clutch kind of got stuck for a second. My buddy took a look at it and told me to get it looked at. I purchased an extended warranty for two years. Hmm....maybe I should get a flywheel upgrade.

not to rag on your but next time, take the car to a mechanic that your trust BEFORE you buy it not after. Never ever trust the dealer/private seller on a used car. If they won't let you get it checked out then don't buy the car. Good Luck with everything and congrats on the Z.

Well, you made a good decision call. It was good that you contact the media, an attorney, and the customer service. In my thoughts, I would do the same; however, I would never buy a used vehicle too much of a hassle especially in the mechanical side. The vehicle you just got is a Lemon vehicle. Your best bet to contact the people who deals with Lemon vehicles and sue them for the cost of the car, the time, transportation fees, and your attorney. By then, you get a new Nissan 350Z 06 instead. Well, good luck that and God Speed! HOOAH!!!

How goes everything ?
I feel your pain. I bought an 03' in Apr 05' and after owning the car for a couple of months I had all of the same problems. I put a JWT flywheel on for about $400 bucks but after that I decided to trade in for an 06' Enthusiast and loved it! Still do after 4 months!

THERE ISN'T A LEMON LAW ON USED VEHICLES.
i agree with what the brickyard rat said above chalk it up to experience. Ive made so many horrid mistakes previous to buying my 03 Z. that when i did buy it 2 months ago, i had EVERY angle covered. Next time you will be better prepared. And i know every person here can agree that dude you were excited because you were about to be the owner of one of the hottest sports cars out! So your judgment was just clouded. dont sweat it.
