My infamous Rock Chip (PIC)
My infamous Rock Chip (PIC)
I don’t really complain about the typical Rock Chips on the front bumper, because almost everybody has them and its almost impossible not to have them. But this one is big ugly and nasty!
I was driving to work behind this Big Fat Dodge Durango. Watching my 4 cars distance away from him. Suddenly, a full-size rock was thrown by the rear tires of the SUV hitting my nice clean Left fender, leaving a hateful/hideous/repulsive/malicious Super-Rock-Chip.
I’m so pissed. Now I gotta fix it with that unhelpful Nissan Touch-up Paint.
Sorry guys for the Rant but I needed to vent.
Rant Over.
PD: My Finger is there so you guys know the size of the Rock Chip, almost the size of my small nail.

I don't have one that big, but I have a nice "chunk" type chip out of my one side mirror.
As for my front bumper... Imagine this. 63k miles, no clear bra.
If that's your only chip, you should be thanking the higher powers. I literally have 50+ 'chips' in the front bumper. Nothing noticable unless you are washing the car or looking at it within 5-10ft. but still... this paint sucks.

For $300 I'd buy a shizload of NXT or Zaino and do it myself (and save a few 100). No wax is going to completely protect from rock chips. Actually nothing will (short of not driving), but clear bra and/or better paint should help immensely.

Ouch! Norton makes a real good consumer, chip repair kit, http://www.nortonautomotive.com/Data...00000000002400
Mothers has the glob/blob remover fo touch ups too, never used it but heard it works well.
One of those can make that chip disappear.

just wondering if the following clear bra is worth it:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW
curious to know if its real 3M or fakes ones, just like those fake TIENs going around
silkk- where would i have to take it to get it installed for $100 like you said?

i dont even wash my front bumper anymore. my chips are actually starting to peel.
i can understand that rock chips will happen with driving. what i dont understand is why nissan paint peels of instead of just simply chippin away. wait, i do know the answer: cheapness and large vertical orientation of the bumper.
i thought about repainting it and getting a clear bra but i think i am just gonna get it repainted every 2-3yrs. 500-800 for clearbra is too much.
