Random Technology are the only CARB approved Cats on the market for the Z. Now that being said. If you have test pipes there is a simple way to fix it to look like the OEM cats. Remove the heat shield from the original cats and weld it to the Test Pipe. Now when the popo look under the car what do they see???

I just moved from San Diego and I was pulled over plenty. Yes even with my TT set-up. Your friend probably gave the cop an attitude when he got pulled over and that is why he got checked. I had my Z there for 2 years and never once in that whole time was I asked to even pop my hood. If you are cool with the cops, they usually dont mess with you.

Exclamation A Bill passed to crack all modified vehicles

Yes, there is crack down on all cars that look modified or suspicious of illegal modification of any vehicles. They have passed down a bill to take all racers out of the scene due to car accidents. The bill was passed down in California only. It seems to be more crack down in San Diego and Fresno, CA. Also noted a few weeks we had at least 180 vehicle citations and at least 7 were pounded, I believed. I was trying to find the Bill, but I couldn’t find it. But it is in there.

Incorrect. Depends on the level of training of the individual officer and local jurisdictional policies and where you live.

I'm not a trooper and can guarantee if I want to see under your hood, I'm gonna look. 100% legal.

Where did you hear that? Local police can definitely tell you to pop your hood. We have a few spots up hear where they do it all the time.

Florida has no emmisions laws, no inspections/certifications, and no stupid front license plates. but don't come to Florida, you want like it. We have nothing but dirt roads, really bumpy, wet dirt roads.

+1

Not so much of a dislike as a distrust, but I've seen a few, distrustful or not, do some pretty amazing and selfless acts for complete strangers. That's respectable. I've also personally known several incredibly intelligent cops that choose to be cops for the whole "helping people" bit. Though, likewise, I've known several that were seriously retarded, bigoted asshats.

I think you know a couple of people I work (have worked with) personally.

Like any other profession, you get all types. It is very hard to weed out bad apples, no matter how stringent you make the hiring requirements. Where I work, it takes on average 9 months to a year to complete the necessary background requirements, mental evaluations, etc. Even going through all that, it's not a 100% guarantee a sh*tbag won't slip thru the cracks.

Cops aren't grown on trees. They come from the exact same place everyone else does.

I do find it humorous that some folks look down upon police officers for doing their job though. Any other profession out there where one is chastized for doing their job? Then you get the ones who make statements such as "well, they got nothing better to do", etc. Guess what, we do what the ublic demands. If street-racing, illegal vehicles mods, etc. is on the public agenda, we get tasked with beefing up in that area. You may not think it, but alot of folks die needlessly every year. You may think you are a great driver (and maybe you are), but how do you think average Joe Citizen is going to react when you do a 100+mph flyby on their vehicle. If you don't see it coming, it can scare the crap out of you.

You may think that having your test pipes is no big deal. But imagine if every vehicle on the road had em installed. I'm no eco nut, but some environmental laws are on the books for a good reason. Plus, it sucks pretty bad when trying to get some sleep late at night and Johnny Riceburner is waking up the whole damn neighborhhood as he blasts thru the streets with his illegal exhaust.

If you want to install illegal aftermarket items on your vehicle, I won't lift a finger to stop you. But if you get caught, you can only blame yourself. It isn't the officer's fault that you get a ticket. Almost sure it's because of your own actions. Try taking some personal responsibility and quit blaming everyone else.

Have a good day

I think HDPD350Z hit it right on the nose. Perhaps the cops that pulled you over had no training on what to look for hence they called someone that did. In this case, it was the CHP.
