Default Pretty low insurance quote on the Z. Wats the Catch?

Hey All,

I asked for a quote from my existing insurance guys (well, they are not the popular ones...matter of fact, when my friend referred me to this service, I didn't even know it existed..but its legit!) and he gave me a pretty low figure of like ~800$ for six months. That works out to roughly 130 bucks a month.

Is this a average quote for someone who has a clean driving history? I mean, no tickets since I started driving (rentals) like 3 yrs ago BUT got my own car and insurance just last year. I kinda think its too low for a sports car (Not that I want to dish out money to my ins guy!).

But just wanted to check with u guys if this sounds rite or do u think it won't cover me well if i get into something? Let me know if you want to me mention my policy details.

(Hey Moderator: Please dont be mad at me. I am really not sure if we can discuss such stuff on this forum!)

Thx!

I am not sure what average means. Members insurance costs vary considerably. And you state no facts in your post:

age?
liability coverage?
deductible?
Major insurance company or underwriter?

Well...that all depends on how old you are (looks like you might be 19 if you started driving at 16).

I pay the same as Bubble ($1350/year) from 21st Century for 2 cars. 1 car is listed as the daily driver (to work) and has only liability and the 350Z has 'full' coverage with a moderate deductible.

For something to compare to, I'm waiting on a 350 to get to the dealer, and I got my insurance quote yesterday. $1040 a year. That's 500 deducts on 300/100 coverage. It was quoted as my only car, and with a $40 a day rental and roadside assistance.

Thanks. The numbers look good. And the price is right. The only thing that I would question is service. If you have a claim, are you going to have to negotiate with a stranger in Seattle? How long will it take to settle a claim? Will the insurance company have you running around collecting estimates?

I hate to tell you to find a more expensive policy, but one usually gets what one pay for.

That's not even that good. I have a speeding ticket and a small accident on my record I have been driving since 20 and my 6 month quote is 800. My comp and collision are 250 deductible. Plus Hawaii seems to up everything, I can't wait till I move and everything will be cheaper...

Hmm, $450/month!!???!!! I couldn't afford to buy a car if i was paying $450 a month. Lucky for me i'm paying like $800 a year for full-coverage.......Nationwide...That's with no tickets/accidents and 24 yrs old...

I pay 800 for two people on the full coverage for 6 months. Both of us on the insurance have tickets on our record. Fixing to go down since its changing to only myself on the insurance.

Insurance is querky stuff. I have a 96 Ranger 4cyl beater that I've had for 10 years. When I picked up the Z, my insurance doubled.

Now this was strange to me because it told me that they charged the same price to insure a brand sports car on note lien as they did a beat up 10yo completely paid off truck.

I'm still not sure if I should be happy or mad about it. I don't know if they are under charging for the Z or overcharging for the Ranger. I guess some of the difference is made up with multiple vehicle discounts.

I have basically the same coverages as ZsDaBest listed, 32yo, paying $1800/yr for both vehicles. It would be lower but when I moved last year, I somehow let my insurance bill get behind, got booted from Geico, then had to pick up with Progressive.

read up on online insurance bait and switch...

i too have esurance but made sure I had all paperwork I needed...

1. don't cancel your current insurance until you have an actual underwriter contract (takes 1-2wks)...
2. ask your old insurance for a certification that you have so and so limits for x years...
3. cancel your old insurance only after the actual contract is available... don't confuse quote with contract... they will do what they can to jack up your rates..
4. they will jack up your rates after renewal...
5. still I apy 900/6 mos for 2 cars.. 350z ent and 05 accord exl (costs more to insure than the Z)

btw i'm 31 and wife has 1 speeding ticket, and limits are 100/300 with 250 ded
good luck

You my friend, is getting anally raped!

I'm paying $80/month for full coverage through Esurance. But then again, it all depends on lots of factors.
