With the new GTR being a nissan, I doubt the new Z will be turbocharged. I also doubt they will push the price up enough to compete with the GTR.

It totally depends on how much money you're willing to spend. I'd say GTR if you can afford it.

I mean you save money with the 3.7 all around (and we ALL know Nissan does that), and you have a clear definition of levels. I think having different trim levels within the GTR is rather pointless, but we'll see.

Either way, im gonna be peaved if my Z is slower by then anyway, so lets all get working! lol

Z always has been and always will be a V6.

Next year, the current Z will complete its 5th year in production. I don't think Nissan will stretch that cycle into the 6th year. Plus, release of the new G is a strong indicator that we'll see the new Z next fall. News should break out by end of summer in either direction.

P.S: FI seems like a strong possibility...

The 240z, 260z and 280zx were all straight sixes not V's. The 300zx and 350z are V6's.

I would go with the GTR, just because it's a GTR, . But I can't afford either of them, haha.

No way in hell Nissan will charge that for the next gen Z.It would be too close in competition for the GTR, and would no longer be considered "Affordable" for most which is what Nissans goal is. Most likely the next gen Z will be around 350HP NA, probably a 3.7L version of the VQ putting it right in competition for the new V6 3.5L Supra. The GTR will be around 450HP putting it right in competition for the V8 5.0L Supra. Also I doubt the GTR will be lighter then the Z, im seeing estimates of around 3500lbs for the GTR.

well boys this is an interesting thread from G driver.. http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87116

do a basic search. enter G37. 2 sources come up, the 2nd one has been trademarked by Nissan Japan. so has M37 and FX37. does this mean more speculation on a 3.7l?

the search is on this site http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?...ate=hchmnq.1.1
sorry this says it better

but 370Z sounds pretty ghey

There is a lot of talk the New Infiniti coupe will be the G37, and the Sedan will remain the G35 for another year. THis will make an interesting quandary about if the Z will become the 370Z.

if the GTR is going with a vq35dett, a qualified mechanic should tear that car apart and see what us 350z guys can do to match the GTR in performance =)

i dont know why people think the next gen is going to be much more expensive than the current gen...

right now nissan has the 30k sports car market pretty much locked up and the car is selling well... with the current trend of gas prices i doubt they are iching to to make it more expensive and use more gas by making it more powerful... not to mention the 40k+ (in 1993 dollars) 300zx TT didn't sell well and was pulled from the USA market...

Making a turbo 350z thats over 45k would be a huge mistake for Nissan

ok...

this is one odd comparison, one car we only SORTA know what it looks like and ALMOST know what it will be powered by and how the power will be put down--sketchy info to be the least

the other car has not even been TOUCHED yet in terms of looks, power, or drivetrain...

i question the relevance of this used bandwidth...

I already started an account to have funds ready for the GT-R I have always wanted one, and in a couple of years I will be able to make that dream come true without having to deal with a conversion or other crap, plus it will be an up-to-date model and not 10+ years old.
