Default Think I would have bought a different car

If I really knew how cheap the Z's paint is. I am blown away at how easy the hood and front fenders are chipping.

Has anybody managed to get it resprayed under warranty? I'm not going to bother trying to fight with the dealer about it but was curious if anybody was able to have it done?

Somebody tell me that a better paint job will lesson the chips on the hood and fenders, cuz I'm going to have to get it repainted sometime in the future or sell the thing cuz it's BS.

Ok, so let me confirm something here.... do you like everything else about the car? If so, paint is just a minor inconvinience

So far the only other issue I've had that bugs me is the clutch sticking 4 times in 4,000 miles. I know what seems to cause it and I can change my habits a tad, to avoid it but it still shouldn't be sticking.

Other than that the car is fun as hell to drive and to own. Just hate the paint. I try to take care of all my stuff and to have it look the way it does after only 2 months bums me out big time.

I just don't think a 30 G's car should look the way it does. I mean I haven't even recieved my plates yet

Yeah, the bay area is a projectile rich environment, every rock truck from here to Weed seems to do a loop around the bay on their way to dump their load in the middle of 87.

I got a clear bra on mine the day after it was delivered and the front still looks like new.

Try giving yourself more distance behind the cars in front of you. I know when I'm driving down the interstate, one of the things i'm watching for it small stones and other debris that might be getting kicked up by cars ahead of me.

Only get a clear bra if you have a dark colored car, over time it will leave a line of dirt stuck right in the edge and is impossible to get out, looks tacky on a light car. Try driving further behind the car in front of you, less driving on construction roads or free ways,(higher speeds harder hitting rocks) chips are easy to hide with touch up paint and patience, cut the brissles at the end of the touch up paint brush so its half as thick so it doesnt glob up on the car and look like ****, the key to a good chip repair is taking your time.......but dont get rid of a kick *** ride b/c you notice something that a hot chick would never notice in a 100 years.

I don't tail gate at all for the obvious reasons but when A-holes change lanes directly in front of me, they pick up the crap on the centerlines of the freeways and deposit it on my car, so it's somewhat in vein.

yes but they don't do anything to protect the hood, which is what I'm having issues with.

The whole car needs a condom

the paint may be not on par with some people... but i think any car is subject to extreme paint/fender damages. i dont care if its a hyundai accent or a ferrari enzo. both have chances of getting rock chips and fender benders.

A bra looks worse than chips.

I have more paint chips on my 1.5 year old Z than I did on my 4 year old Sentra when I turned it in.

The chips definitely stink, but it's only because I love my car so much, I hate to see blemishes on it. Reality is, no one but you will notice them.

The front bumper is a different story, mine is trashed. When I get a body kit, I will have it painted and put a clear bra on immediately.

I agree with others, the car is way too much fun to let some cosmetic defect ruin it for me.

I have had a clear bra on my silver coupe (Front bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors) for two years now and I don't have a single scratch. It has not faded and it doesn't have a bad line on it. If you want I will post some pics.

I've learned to deal with the paint chips now that the &#%$ bumper paint is cracking under the tail light
I know that's a common one too. I've got to get my car in soon to have them look at it since my warranty is up in 6,000 miles.
Damn paint
