well is a 15 year old car worth $28K when the 350Z will be just as fast if not quicker and be a better DD and have less expensive repairs and easier to find parts?

it's up to you....but if you have to ask..i think the choice is clear....

I have heard from NSX guys that the ones after something like '96 are better. Whatever the case may be, the Z is just going to be much more "worth it."

I considered buying a used 93-94 NSX while looking at the Z years back, but came to my senses after hearing about how expensive maintenance and repairs were. I love the NSX, but its hard to argue against a brand new car, with full warranty and almost the same performance (pre 97 models).

call up your acura dealer and ask them how much it costs to change the oil on a 91 NSX... not to mention your 60k, 90k etc

I might be biased b/c I am a Z owner but I have a feeling the 15 year old sports car will require more $$$$ in maintence than a brand new Z.

NSX are more rare if your going for that factor but thats pretty much what you're paying for. It is alot lighter than a Z also. I would say go for the NSX but you can wait to see what happens for the Z after fast and the furious comes out.

It can cost a "lot"...but they def didn't have the problems the Z did when coming out of the factory. I'd gamble the Nsx is...dare we say..more reliable?

Default don't bother getting 15 yrs old car

NSX is definitely a better car than a 350z, but if you are talking about 1991 NSX, which is 15 years old now and has 58,000 miles on it.
Just get the Z, which would be a brand new car, similar performance, and much modern styling. NSX is a beautiful car, but it is showing its age.

LOL @ all your Z biased opinions. The NSX is no more unreliable than your average Civic and as far as maintenance costs go the most expensive one you'll run into is the water pump/timing belt @ ~90k which cost the previous owner of my 91 NSX a grand total of $1800.

Now to further this with facts, the NSX is damn near depreciated all it's going to. What will your Z be worth in 10-15 years? $10k at best? My 91 with 80k miles would sell for close to $30k all day long. Daily drivable? Yea...I drive mine as often as I can 60 miles round trip- of course I have another truck I drive when the weather sucks but it's no worse than driving a 300ZX daily(which I did a little over a year ago).

Besides, how many Z's do you see each day? It'd take more fingers than I've got to count with for sure...at least that's how it is in northern VA.

lol...

owning a car is not just being able to make the payments... 60k service for the nsx will run about $750 vs like 200-300 on a Z... My friend used to work at an acura dealership and said it was like $70 to even touch one of those NSX's... (including oil changes)... I am sure tires and brakes aren't cheap for the NSX either so even if you have 0 problems with the 15 year old car you are still looking at spending more than twice as much just keeping it running.

And I would be willing to bet insurance isn't cheap for that NSX either... just b/c they are both the same price doesn't mean it costs the same to own each.

Just changed my oil in my garage floor without a floor jack for less than $30 and it took me a half hour. 5 Quarts of Quaker State Advanced Full Synthetic 10w-30($19 from Autozone), a filter($8) and a new crush washer($.50).

91-93's have 15/16 tires. You'd be hard pressed to spend over $400 for a set of new Z rated(or better) tires. The 94-01 use a 16/17 combo in a 215/45/16 and a 245/40/17, both cheaper than a set of tires for the 350Z.

Did stainless steel brake lines, new Project U pads, Motul600 fluid for $275 on all four corners. Add another $240 for a set of all four rotors. Pretty cheap considering rotors don't get replaced often. Source? Daliracing.com

It's cheaper than my 91 300ZX was. I'm 23, with two reckless tickets in VA and pay less than $1600 a year for full coverage with Geico. A quote for an 03 350Z would cost me nearly $2200 a year.

This is an interesting thread. I have a '91 NSX. Have had one for almost 14 years. When I stuffed on into a tree a few years back, I immediately purchased another without even considering another car. A few months ago I purchased a Touring model Z. I have to say that I was kind of horrified at the handling of my NSX after driving the Z. The NSX is a far better car, however. The quality of the materials, fit and finish is quite better than the Z. The Z has the cheapest quality interior materials I have ever seen on a car. Nissan put their money into the performance of the car. It is the most entertaining car I have ever owned. The NSX is not at all a terribly expensive car to own. Go to the NSX Prime web site, an exceptional site, and spend a few hours. If I could only have one of these cars, it would be the NSX. By the way, because of how well the Z handles, I have been forced to do the following mods on the NSX: OZ Wheels, Goodyear F1 tires, Tein Flex suspension and some kind of a front sway bar. I will have that all done in a week or so. As mentioned above, the NSX will not depreciate much. It is a fantastic car and if you can get one, you will have what has been described (arguably!) as one of the best cars made. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

That's wierd..i've always heard of the NSXbeing a benchmark in handling. That's really wierd actually..

hyper- You obviously don't understand that this is a HONDA. One of the big things with the NSX is its build quality and the reliability of it..you'd be HARD pressed to find many, if ANY with major problems. Let's see the list that we have...tranny...clutch...tires...rattling..cheap interior. ETC.

search function, there is a long thread debating the two cars as options comparing and contrasting...there are even PICS--so the thread is not worthless
