Question Are the aluminum kickplates worth it?

Is the $59.75 Courtesy Nissan is charging for the kickplates worth it in your opinion? I've heard that these aren't of the best quality (I know they are OEM).

I certainly like the way they look on a SS, so I'm considering ordering them.

I like mine. They add that nice extra touch of class to the door sills and for 60 bucks, they're worth it. When you compare 60 bucks to the whole cost of the car, I think they're definitely worth it. Even if they take a beating, its not the actual door sill that is getting scratched...

Thumbs up YES!

For those of us who own (or have owned) 240Zs, the aluminum kickplate is but another link and element of Z DNA, as 240Zs featured this.

In some other thread, some people were saying that the majority of it is still plastic, and one of them managed to break one during installation.

Most of us that pre-ordered were disappointed with the kick plates for false advertising.

The Nissan website had pictures of all aluminum kick plates. However, the kick plates turned out to be mostly plastic with an aluminum inset. Not nearly as nice as the kick plates on the pre-production car.

They don't seem to be very well fastened. After a few heat/cold cycles I think the adhesive will start to give.

I have them on my car, but I wouldn't have ordered them if I'd ordered the car. Just not worth the money in my mind, but I'm generally not high on the flashy visual stuff (like the doorhandles).

If you likes the looks, though, $60 isn't that bad.

I agree. I think they're nice and I'm happy I got them, but I probably wouldn't add them after I bought the car. They are mostly plastic, and since the door sill is fairly wide, it's pretty easy to scrape them with your foot when getting in/out.

For the price they are definitely worth it. Real aluminum kick plates would be allot more than $60. In any case the only alternative is a custom kickplate$$$ or stock black plastic. I'll take the thin aluminum for $60. Really $60 is not allot when you think that wheels locks are close to $30, clear reflectors are close to $50, rear badge is like $25, etc., etc.

They are pretty nice IMO, but I really like the CF ones someone posted a few weeks back.

I think the ones in my last Bimmer looked better, but these are OK. I would buy them even after I got the car if mine did not already have them. You gotta keep the motif going with the aluminum pedals.
