Default 03 or 04

Hey all, would it be better to pay $6k more for a 04 with the same mileage then a 03? Im planning to get new rims and tires so I dont think i'll have feathering, but is the transmission or anything much better on the 04?

Buy the 03 with less than 36k miles.

New wheels and tires don't cure tire feathering.

Don't mean to hijack a thread but does a 03 performance with 19,xxx miles driven by a 35 yr old women for $22,150 sound like a good deal to anyone else?

No. With a budget of say $25,000, I would shop by mileage not model year.

I wouldn't pay $6k more for an 04. And I agree with whoever said to shop by mileage, not year.

That $6k can pay for wheels as well as any maintainence that might come up (if you're concerned that an 03 will have issues).

It's fair. You need to test drive Z's though to get a feel for how they drive. My 03 Track w/ 18k miles books a little above that. If the car is in good shape, $22k is acceptable IMO.

She used the car for nothing more than to cruise in, she was very gentle on it. Generally women, especially who aren't teens to early 20's are going to be a little easier on a sports car than a guy is.

The car is at the dealership I work at and I can get it for what we gave her for trade-in.

I'm shocked the trade-in value is 22k. That sounds suspicious, although I haven't looked up the trade-in value (which I would do if I was you - kbb.com).

Anytime a salesman says, "Yes, an older couple previously owned this car" or in your case, "A middle aged woman drove this car", I raise my eyebrows. Don't believe this unless you know the person who used to drive the car on a regular basis.

It's from the dealership that I work at, everything is legit.

To save the cash I would go for the 03. That way you can get more in the way of mods and maybe better tires and rims.

Believe it or not most of the 04's have the same demons as the 03's. And I think all Z's will have the tire feathering.....eventually. It's my belief that the feathering is just the nature of the beast so to speak. The price we pay for driving a sports car, anyone who thinks they will get more than 25k-30k miles out of a set of tires for this car is not thinking realistically. With the right alignment and right tires (the potenzas are crap!!), 03's can get this easily.

Good Luck!!
