theory on tranny problems
probably way off here, keep in mind i odnt know really anythign about how a clutch works, other thanit disengages the tranny. just popped in my head as i was driving down the road
heres my theory, and if its a repost im sorry. but could it be related to a weak clutch? i mean if the clutch isnt doing its job and isnt completely disengaging the gears could that cause them to grind down? kinda makes sense to me and ive noticed a fair number of people getting clutches replaced in low mileage situatoins
and also why isnt the tranny issue a recall? seems to have affected alot of z's? is it jut a crap shoot if its yours?
/stupid thread
*runs and hides from the flammage that is sure to ensue*

With 760 posts, I doubt if there are new ideas about the transmission:

Transmission recall. If Nissan did recall the more than 90,000 350Zs on the road, what would they do to the transmission? Besides, if your transmission is working fine, are you going to take it to Nissan for a fix?

it was just an idea that popped in my head while driving down the road
and i dont know, hmmm...i would imagine that nissan has trannys before that arent pieces of dog $hit, so im sure they oculd make another one.
but know i wouldnt take it to nissan if it wasnt broken. i just think its f'ed up that some people have such trouble getting theirs replaced. and i have a feeling that if mine goes out im goign to be one of them bc my local dealer isnt ecactly the greatest
btw david has that idea been brought up in the 760 posts?
In the first bulletin Nissan had techs replace pedal assembley along with the transmission. They then resorted to replacing the clutch. I am not sure if they are still replacing clutches as I haven't worked for dealer for a while
I think it has nothing to do witht eh clutch. if anything, the clutch is too powerful and isn't slipping enough. the stock clutch has been known to hold 500 crank torque, which isn't too shabby for stock. I think tauren is w/ TN ST and still going stong.
