SIGN ME UP..!!!!!! I can't wait, I hope it does not surprise them too much with a 500 whp roadster... If I have to wait until July I might be running well over 600whp by then

Yea I have the AP Racing BBK (stillen rotors w/ braided lines).
Front: 6 pot/14.25" drilled/slotted rotors.
Rear 4 pot/13.5" drilled/slotted rotors
I figured I was going to need something to stop my baby when I got into her too much.

Never been to a HPDE but will someday go. As far as drag racing I attended the "practice shifting till you run good times trick" I adopted back in high school-seems to work well for any car I drag race now

I've been twice. In 2003 with my 2002 Mazda Protege5. Then again in 2005 with the Z. I figured going from 130HP to 287HP and from FWD to RWD... maybe I should go again. What a blast, and an excellent investment in your personal safety. It's saved my bacon once or twice.

Driving school/track days are by far the best investment you can make in your Z.

Here in SoCal, among many such opportunities, the Alpha Romeo Club of S. Cal (http://www.arosc.org/) sponsors regular track days at Willow Springs, open to any and all cars.

Lots of instruction, plenty of track time, sometimes sessions on a flooded skidpad. Two full days for about $220. Helluva bargain!

Just to prove the point that it's more about driver skill than exotic hardware, I remember watching one of the instructors beat the pants off a bunch of amateurs in Vettes, Porsches, etc. He was driving a stock Miata.

Again, invest in your own skills before dropping big bucks on car mods.

That reminds me of the episode in Top Gear where a woman drove the Nurburgring in a Ford utility van in just over 10 minutes. She was passing sport bikes & Porsches along the way too... it was hilarious!

Dude, with all you seem to be putting in that car you’ll be spending 50k$ on that thing.

A custom made roll bar costs around 1k$. A BIG 2% of total vehicle value… You should consider it seriously!

Plus you’ll then be able to have real seats with 6pts harnesses.

I've been doing HPDE's for 2 and a half years now and still looooovin' it!

I usually run with the BMW CCA National Capital Chapter. They're open to non-BMW owners.

I did the Mazda Driving Event once and occasional FATT at Summit Point, WV.

Put in more then that already.... I know I'm sick...

As for the cage. I have been to a couple of places and the question is the ability to put a bar in and still use the convertible top. The rear support of the roll bar HAS to go through the rear section where the automatic top is stored. putting bars back there would prevent the ability to take the top down. ON a convertible that is just not an option... SO, I have been looking into a bolt in/ removable cage to be used just for racing. Still under consideration... no one has done it yet that I know of.
