Default Rear hatch not opening

I can press the button on the remote or push the button on the car and my hatch won't open. It makes the sound like it is unlatching but the hatch isnt poping up. Anyone ever have this problem?

This happens to me also. You have to assist it by pulling on the hatch while you push on the button. Mine pops on the first press. I pull on the second press.

do the search, and you will find out all about it. this problem first arose in the winter on 2003 when the first year models were exposed to the cold weather. what happened is the "pistons" that are responsible for opening the hatch when the button is pressed lost their pressure first due to the weather being colder and then the problem continued as the "pistons" lost their pressure due to time.

the ultimate fix is to take the car to the dealer cause there is a TSB for thefix. The rigging fix is to take I think 2 pennies for each "piston" and place them in the area where contact is made between the car and the hatch. This increases the tension in the closed position thus making the hatch open enough to get past the locking mechanism on first push of the button.

again, do a search and you should find a thread that details step by step how to do it. i think the thread was title something like a .04cent fix (two pennies in each side), or maybe .06cent.
