Differ all you want. I said nothing about being fully built, I said full exhaust work. You can make anything fast if you drop enough time/money into it. Fast 99-04 mustang GT's are definitely out there, don't get me wrong, but they are far and few between.

A good friend of mine is a ford fanatic and he doesn't give me grief about driving an import. I don't give him grief about owning a classic mustang or driving a ford truck. I don't like ford and I'm sure he doesn't like nissan, but we can talk cars/racing all day long. He will not hesitate to admit 99-04 mustang GT's are slow as christmas turkey. They have a lot of torque and feel faster than they really are.

Slow as Christmas turkey? Come on! They may not be as fast as a new Z, but they are not slow, and they respond well to simple bolt-ons.

This is what I see during a typical Sunday at the track.

When I pull up to the Christmas Tree, I spot all the drivers above. Makes me damn proud to be diving a 6 cylinder rather than a so called V8 Muscle Car.

Come on guys. The price point of the Z is closer to that of the Cobra. The later n/a Cobras are deep into the 13s with only slicks. The supercharged Cobras...forget about it.

The cars you're showing run on 87 octane, and are not tuned like the Z.

The Mustang is a fun and affordable ride. It's cheap to mod, and there are thousands more parts available for it than the Z. You can make it into whatever you want. No need to hate.

Yes, stock 99 - 04 GT's are not going to beat a stock 350Z. I don't like comparing modded cars to unmodded cars, but a 99 - 04 GT with full exhaust is going to take a 350Z, and it should not be that hard for them either. I say this because everyone talks about every single one on the street being slow. Well it is not extremely expensive to get full exhaust on a GT ESPECIALLY when compared to a 350Z. So I would be a little more careful about being so cocky next time you see a modded GT on the road next to you.

Tell that to the handfulls (10+, lost count) mustang GT's I've smoked. Several of them were stock I'm sure. Some of them were definitely modded (exhausts so loud I couldn't hear my own engine). I haven't been beat by a single one yet. Best part is, I'm bone stock. I've also never had a single 'stang GT line up with me from a roll and try to start fair (most of the races were from rolls too). They always do lame sht. Like trying to instigate a race by goosing or revving, and then when you show them you're down to run they just hit it out of nowhere and take off. So I end up having to chase them down(which does make the killing a little more fun/interesting). I have never failed to walk a 'stang GT, cheap jump or not, modded or not.

Like I said, don't get me wrong there are fast ones out there, but they are far and few between. If they were soooooo easy/cheap to make "fast" like all the mustang chumps like to claim (talk is cheap), you would think my stocker would have been pulled by one by now.

BTW, this is a Z site, if you're looking for domestic mustang butt love, you're in the wrong place.

Yea, it's a Z site. It can be an enthusiast site without being a fanboy site.

It just depends on what you want. If you want a quick straight line car for not a lot of money, buy a mustang or a camaro. If you want a good all around sports car for not much money buy a Z.

Seeing as I've been on the forums a little longer than you, I am quite aware this is a Z site, but thanks for the enlightenment. I drive a Z, not a Mustang, I am just aware of their capabilities. I too have beat my fair share of GT's like you and a lot of Z owners. I just know when modded right they can be quick as hell. A GT with exhaust and 4.10's would definitely not be a GT that you would "smoke". It would be the other way around.
