It doesn't matter how well you take care of your website, given enough time and skill dedicated hackers will get in. Since I don't know enough details, I can't say if it was due to negligence or dedicated hacking. Luckily I always paid through paypal with them on Ebay.

Likely, the perpetrators were trolling the web for servers they knew how to get into set up for ecommerce.

I've bought stuff using my Discover card, I called up discover and they said they knew about the issues and that so far none of their acconts have had any problems and to just keep my card active, if anything came thru that wasnt by me they would not hold me to it.

she did offer to send a new card if it would make me feel better about it, I said no thanks.

so far so good.

Pro Nissan/Mynismo.com has been good to me. I'd buy from them again with out thinking twice, even with my credit card.

Just remember, the odds of you having your credit card stolen or copied is much much much much higher in your everyday life then it is over the web.

If 1000 credit cards get stolen a day everyone goes oh well thats normel,
if 1 story gets around about someone getting credit card info off the internet the whole country freaks out.

Just like kidnappings/rapes. it happens everysingle day, however if it happens ONCE a month on the internet believe me you WILL hear about it.

wah wah wah wah wah.

A+++ to Jason and the crew over there.

just some food for thought.

Well, I for one didn't cancel my card as I have special insurance against fraud. Not one atempt was made to charge my card. NP advised to cancel cards "just in case". It might well have been one of those "deface" attacks, nothing more.

Ahhh so never dealing with the large banks or credit card companies anymore either?

This sort of thing happens, no information is truely safe for these people who want it bad enough. At least they had the courtesy to tell people what happened and warn them. Most of these large companies don't admit it happened until they start getting sued.

I agree, many times banks or other companies won't even mention that they had a breach because they know they will lose even more money. Even though there are laws to protect consumers, organizations will cover the incident up. At least Performance Nissan told the customers as soon as they found out and took mitigating measures. As far as I'm concerned they earn my vote of confidence for being honest. On top of that, they always have competitive prices and great customer service. I could buy locally, but order my stuff from them in California because of that fact.

Even when you use a credit card at Target all your information goes over the internet. You can't escape someone intercepting your data, all you can do is hope that companies are trying to protect it.

I've ordered from them since the hack....good prices, quick service.

If the hack happens a second time, then I'll be mad.

I'd buy from Performance again. As many have said, no system is impenetrable. I think Performance was satisfactorily proactive with us when the breach occurred, and for that as well as their long-time excellent customer service, selection and price, I'd certainly give 'em another chance. P.S. Amex said basically the same thing to me as Discover said to jeffie7.
