I know the CCA's are poor, but Im doing the same thing my friend is doing. Thats running the battery in the summer and for track events, in the winter when I dont really drive the Z anyway or in colder climates run the stock one. Jeremy has the battery so we know its powerful enough to turn over our 3.5L motor.

yeah guys, i let me car sit for over a week and it didnt start one time, other than that i have had NO problems with it.

one time i did run my NOS bottle warmer for about 20 mins and it killed the battery at the track also. it draws 40amps though so its kinda big.

good little battery though, would highly recommend it !!!

mine is the Odyssey PC680

Are there any negatives to installing a smaller battery, considering I live in North Carolina where it rarely gets very cold?

I think you can do better for us...thats $5 off of MSRP but its shipped so its like $15 off, I think for 10 people it should be lower.

General rule-of-thumb: 100lbs = 10hp. Reducing weight is a great performance-mod. The spare-tire actually weighs 32lb. I recently went to Home Depot and picked-up 3 40-lb bags of potting-soil. Very noticeable affect on acceleration. I felt like I was driving one of those bloted 2006 Z's.

FWIW I found it online for $157 w/free shipping but the straps are like another $20 IIRC.

So we save $7 by organizing a group buy of 10 people. Somebody tell me if I sound like I expect to much I stand by my last post...Id love this battery though no doubt-would be great for track days.

I checked today. The 170 shipped comes with the lightweight aluminum mounting bracket you see on my car, which retails at 59.99 The mounting kit that 35ounces was talking about is a universal mounting kit and not the nice aluminum peice. so with the battery and the aluminum mounting bracket you are acctually saving around $60 with a group buy of $170 shipped

I'd be surprised if you can get 10 people to pay that much but if you can get the other 9 guys I will bite for the GB. Otherwise I'll probably opt for the cheaper PC680. thanks for your efforts though.
what happened to the CF sleeves anyhow?

10lbs on a battery? big deal.
Be careful. Losing 20 lbs of $hit will probably make your head deflate.

Long story short, your battery works in conjuntion with the alternator while the car is running.
Good observation. Personally, I'd go with a yellow top when running a high powered system. My stocker battery will probably die soon. It's going on 4 years old. The alternator does strain to keep up also. When the bass demands high current, I can see the voltage guage drop from 14vdc to 12vdc.
