My friend...
You've just made a biggest mistake of your life...
People here pay someone to take their bose system away.
Try to return it and go with another aftermarket headunit.

Now why I can't say I am thrilled with my Bose in my 06, my biggest issue is I want something to look like it belongs in my car. I have yet to see a headuit that actually looks like it belongs in the Z, some install look pretty nice but they still don't look right to me.

oh, I dunno, a double-din, touchscreen flat panel would look pretty tight

I've seen quite a few double-DIN units that look great! They leave no extra space and some of them actually match the interior.

I'll see if I can dig up a few threads where people have them installed.

First this post belongs in the audio forum where the audio pros hang out...

Yes it is possible to install the amplifier. I don't know if the wiring harness is in place or if you must buy one. Do you have a maintenance manual for help?

There are some great double-din offerings from Kenwood, Pioneer, and Eclipse.
I have the flip-out unit, and I think it really goes nice with the car also.

I went with a single din fold out unit also. The dash kit opened up a small storage area under the din for dvd's and stuff. What ever you get i would suggest a unit that plays mp3's and dvd's... I can put about 500 mp3s on one dvd... Its VERY nice for crusing around.

Sweet if you guys can point me in the correct for something that looks right in the opening of the 06 I would love that. I want something that blends right in and doesn't look out of place.

From what I recall, the Pioneer FH-P4200MP looks good in Z's.

Do you mind posting a few pictures of it? I'm very interested in them.

There are two amps on the OEM Bose : undre the foam pieces in the hatch area is the main amp, supposed to be "smart"... Under or behind the subwoofer is a subwoofer amp. I do not know if the wires are there.

Another option is to use an AudioLink PD4 and then you can hookup that Bose HU to any set of amps/speakers you want. http://www.linkmeup.com/pd4.htm

Hope that helps.
