Valet Wtf???

someone here mentioned that they pay $5 to valet park their own car... i've found myself doing this each time i was forced to valet.
one night i was standing infront of a restaurant (houston's in coral gables--for those who are familiar with miami) and apparently no one knew how to drive manual that day. for the more expensive cars, they would let the car sit on the street until the owner was no longer in sight and a couple valet guys would take a stab at driving the cars. one was a carrera 4s, one valet dude got in and kept stalling, the next one got in and revved to no less than 3,000 and slipped the clutch till he could finally get moving, i heard him buck and stall the car 100 yards away... then the next stick car came... the clutch slipper came since he was the veteran and it took him 2-3 tries to get the car moving... each time the car (this time it was a corvette) bucked, and stalled out so audibly, everyone waiting around for a table would break neck...
now, not all valets are bad, but i dont feel like finding a needle in a haystack... i'll park my own car even if it means a 200yard walk or rain soaked or whatever...

and to think that to valet your car is a "classy" thing to do.......the one and only time i ever valet my car was at a casino in OK.......the guy who took the car did a great job and I reset my trip to see if they took it on a joyride.....when i was ready leave it took them almost 20 minutes to get it because of the reverse issue, i finally had them call the guy that took my car to get it...the one thing i will say for them is that they did not drive it because the trip was at like .02..never again though will i valet my Z......it's just not worth it, clutches are too expensive....

The first time I let a valet park my Z he put it in 6th instead of reverse and drove it into a curb. I'll never do that again. The management of the place just shrugged and said that it would buff right out. If my friend didn't see them do it (he was smart and parked his own car) they would not have even told me.

I work at a car dealership and I have to admit the first time I drove a G35c I couldn't figure out hoe to put it in Reverse. But I just looked in the owners manual instead of pushing it.

I valeted my '05 Maxima about 2 months after I bought it. Was one of those dinner and a show places with no room for self parking, so I had no choice (I never use valet.) Long story short: I was the first one out of the building after the show, and the last one to leave. They kept assuring me that they were getting my car... when in reality, they were looking for the keys! They had no clue where the keys where. I went behind the restaurant about 30 min later just in time to see one of the valet guys come out of the rear entrance with a long metal rod and a screwdriver. I was like, "HELL NO, you touch my car with that I'll stick it up your ***!" It actually ends up that the keys were NOT locked in the car... they have actually been dropped on the floor, ran over, bent all my keys except my car key (thankfully), put in a cooks pocket, and forgottn' there the rest of the night. ... ...
moral of the story: avoid valet at all costs

Never let a velet park your car if its lowered with a body kit, if you do might as well kiss your front bumper good bye after he rams it into the curb or wheel stop
Most people don't know how to driave a 6 speed, they don't realize you have to push down then into reverse gear. I know when I bought my 6MT G35 sedan the sales person didnt tell me that and my first try I got stuck because I couldnt get it in reverse... Luckily I had my newphew with me who's girlfriends dad collects Porsches, Vipers and BMW's, so he's driven a few of those on his dates with her so he knew from driving the Porsche that you needed to push down first (actualy took him a few mins to tell me, think he was having fun watching me struggle) hehe..

I actually had a positive expericen where one guy when I pulled up said "Yo for sure we can try to park it, it's not too low, I got this". Along came another guy and said " No way, we are not even going to bother, God forbid something happens to it. I think the ramp might be too high.." There is ONE good valet guy after all!. Many places wont let you park it yourself, so I NEVER VALET...

I REFUSE to use valet...EVER!!! I just went on a date this past weekend to a nice restaurant in downtown DC. The resataurant had Valet parking for $10. I drove 2 blocks away to a self park garage for $15...while it was misting rain. My date looked at me like a fool for doing this...I told her that even if the valet was free and the self park was $40, Id have done the same thing....oh, and I casually moved the umbrella I was carrying over both of our heads to directly over mine after her glare at me...."BI*CH...dont EVER question my love for my Z"
