Overall though if your looking for a tough fast sports car 350Z cant go wrong, but if your looking for something with a bit more space and can carry the extra 2 ppl, get a RX8 or even better EVO.

+1 for 350Z for me.

Dont you meant midgets?? or dwarfs?? I dont know about your but the only thing that could possibly fit in the back of an 8, would be groceries! After all, its a grocery getter.......

Actually, I'm 6'4 and I can fit just fine in the back seat. It really is built for 4 adults, not 2 adults and 2 midgets like other 4 seater sports cars.

Yup... I'm 6'2" and I fit fine in back, EXCEPT...

There's no rear foot room if the person in front of you is tall and has the seat pushed back. Plenty of headroom though.

Because Mazda claims that the small size and light weight of the rotary engine is what made the RX-8's unique chassis design (four-door/seat sedan that drives like a two-seater sports car) possible.

it doesn't take horsepower to make one hell of a car. anyone who has driven the rx-8 to its potential knows this. the 8 is just an easier car to handle and its fast if you can keep it in its powerband. the pros will tell you, the rx-8 is a proper sports car

It would be nice if Mazda could squeeze 300hp out of the RX-8, while keeping the curb weight the same -- it would be one fast car foe shizzle. Maybe that's the next RX-7. If you're a car enthusiast, the next few years could be very exiting....the RX-7 is comming back, not to mention the 330-340HP Supra, 330HP Z, 450HP GT-R, 333HP BMW Z4 M coupe, twin turbo BMW 3-series with 300+HP, 500HP mid-engine Lexus, V10 NSX....

even if mazda squeezed 300hp from the engine (with or without turbo) the rx-8 thing would still get gas mileage comparable to an SUV. i agree with others who have commented on exterior styling. it's okay from the back, the side profile is a bit weird, etc. i know this is subjective...

Or go the other way: make a light, two-seater version. That sounds like an RX-7 to me.

What sucks is I believe it's a solid 250hp car in japan. Not that I *need* more power to enjoy my car, but STILL. Curse american emissions standards!

Whadaya get in a Z?

I average 18-19mpg with my 8, which includes occasional traffic jams and lots of backroad flogging... and no significant steady-speed highway miles.

The car's milage is curiously immune to driving style. I've driven for nearly an entire tank using cruise control on the highway (long trip) and barely broke into the 20s. And yet my very worst milage was early on in the car's life after a hard flogging which earned me 16mpg.

What sucks is the small tank: I'm thinking about fuel (below 1/4 tank) by 200+ miles, and desperate (fuel light on) by 240.

I quite enjoyed the drive of the 8, not as much as I enjoy driving a Z, but it was fun in a different way - just want to rev the hell out of it and find some corners to rail on

I think if they could keep the weight down and add another 50 hp they would have a real winner on their hands

Yea my co-worker just bought a red one (auto). Took a ride with her one day and there is no torque at all. i was lmao (in my head...trying to be moddest) when she said: "am i scaring you" (when she did a wot mergin in the freeway)
i said wait till you get in my Z i'll show you fast
I've always like the looks of the 8...never thought they would be this slow, glad i chose the Z...we get the best in both world look and speed.
