Is CA no fault or something? All this talk of $4000, don't you have insurance and so did the other guy? Won't cost you a dime (unless CA is no fault).

And, that looks very ugly. Sorry to hear. I got rearended once, in my first car ('86 Mazda Rx7), and I damn near cried. Costed $1200 to fix on a car that wasn't worth $800 (lol).

Hope it all works out for you.

i had exact same accident when i first got the car. interviewed about 20 shops. went with a nissan dealership shop after seeing about 12 z's in their shop. came out to $4500 or so. did perfect work. cant even tell. also came out $2000 ahead cuz i rim got scratched, so they paid me out for a new one

I just got rear ended too and my damage looks a lot like yours, with fender warping but my bumper has more damage. The bodyshop didn't want to give me a estimate until he takes the car apart to see how extensive the damage is but he told me as much as $8-9k.

He told me that he would have to replace one of the fenders rather than trying to fix it. This is the bodyshop that the dealer recommended to me. The shop does work on lexus, bmw, and jags.

Yeah my initial estimate through my "insurance requested dealership" is at $2600, this is w/o removing anything and just from looking on the outside. I figure it will run into the 5-6k mark, once they start taking things off... Now, if I can only convince the body shop to use an aftermarket bumper and exhaust that would work out quite well for me

by the look of it, it didn't hit the frame or the subframe yet. Your exhaust is fine. Unless your bodyshop play some dirty technique, they can request some more "supplement" then it can go up to 4K. It is up to them to cough up some money back for you so you can buy aftermarket bumper.

Is it possible to sue the driver and get money because the value of our 350z is lower now because of the accident? I've never sued.

I'm a perfectionist and it pains me to know my z was in an accident and that it will never really be in the same condition as it was. Eventhough the bodyshop told me that if i'm not happy they will repaint the so it matches.

I'm really thinking of selling my 06 and getting an 07 if i can get $20k for it.

Well here's an update...

The Z will be out of the shop by next wednesday, it's been well over 1 month, cost the insurance company well over $8600 and I'm really tired of driving around my crappy pos american made rental car from enterprise.

The rear quarter is installed & painted and as far as I can tell the paint matches
Yes I did get the new '06 tails
Yes I did get new exhaust, I went with the borla true duals, after doing a few weeks of reserach.
Unfortunately, they were able to re-form my rear bumper so no new bumper

Overall I'll be glad to get her back...

I'll post pics next week sometime

i thought with $8600, your bodyshop would put in new bodykit for you. Out of $8600, around $2000 to part max. They pocket $6000+ for labor.

Yeah, im sure they pocketed a nice chunk of change and this was the body-shop my insurance suggested for me to use, so it's their loss.

I wish I could of got a body kit out of all this, I would of gone with a Kenstyle if I had a choice.

doesn't matter if you pick on your own or insurance suggest..you can always work it out with them. Just ask for it.

That sucks. I was rear ended a while ago. Luckily it was just the bumper and did not tweak the rear fenders at all. I needed a new bumper. Total was around $1,000 for everything.

Looking at your image made me realize that when I got rear-ended a year ago they did not fix everything. My drivers side rear quarter panel is dented in the same place behind the door. Didn't notice it until about a month later when I took it on a road trip. But after looking at your accident now I know what caused it.

Anyone know if you can re-file a claim a year later ?

Here is a pic . Hard to get it to show looking at it from head on.

You don't have to claim that. I had something similar - it is about a 150 buck repair.

Updated with new pics of my fixed & upgraded Z, I've yet to put on the AEM CAI, just have not had anytime extra time to do so.

So go ahead and refer to the first post in this thread to see the new pics!
