I'm just curious how many MTers drive mostly in-city.

My driving is mostly around town driving. Occasionally I'll be on the interstate. Not a big deal for me.

yep, mostly stop light to stop light to work and back for me.. hell, its not really that bad surprisingly.. hitting any bump is of course horrid, but thatd be the same no matter if i were AT or MT.. then again, i used to have a modded up stealth tt with what amounts to a race clutch, so anything is easy since that...

owned all automatic cars.

Z was my first stick. i drive in heavy traffic lots of the times (interstate 4 aka florida's largest parking lot) and cruise around a lot.

i would say 90% of my driving is in city... and as in 3rd post, i would never own another automatic car again

Well yes, but I mean on an everyday basis...Thats why I gave a 20% gap for the people who drive mostly in city because even people who work in the city use the interstate.

I was just wondering how many people drive a standard transmission in city; and it turns out theres quite a few more than I would have though and they don't sound to bothered by it. Interestind indeed

I drive in the city, Austin, TX which isn't real big, but has some bad traffic problems. My 350z(MT) is not my everyday driver though. I drive my truck(AT) during the day for work. I have to drive all through the city in it all the time going to check on different job sites, but I don't think i would like to drive a MT in the traffic that is for sure.

I drove my MT in the horrid traffic of new orleans every day from out of the city.. into the city.. around the city.. etc.. it WAS infact a pain in the ****!

Needless to say my next car was a steptronic ..

Do I miss the manual? Hell yes. But not when I'm sitting in traffic!

NOTE: I'd never buy an automatic sports car though..

The Z and the Stang were both manual.. and it's the only way I'd have it.

I hate driving the MT in the parking lots, I mean highways or any streets during rush hour(s) traffic.

So its sort of like L.A. I do about 90% city, but the other 10% is on the freeways, which is practically the same thing as city driving with all the traffic.

I do about half of my driving on the interstate, so I had to answer no. Everything is spread out in the city I live in, so you must drive on the interstate to get to where you're going within a reasonable amount of time. I also live in close proximity to a few interstates so it doesn't take long to get to one.

I don't care how much city driving I did, I would never buy an automatic sportscar. If I buy an automatic vehicle, it's for luxury, not for function, and the Z would not be on that list.

I've driven manual for about 8 years in 85% traffic and it wasn't fun.

I've driven an automatic 350z too, it wasn't fun either.

Different strokes for different folks.

Yup. I opted for an A/T for lots of reasons. Long story short (if you know me, you know it is a very long story,) A/T was the better choice for my situation in my life. It is definitely not as fun as the M/T. But on the other hand, you are thankful it isn't an M/T whenever you are in the heavy traffic I am usually in. Like he said, different strokes for different folks. I jus' hate it when someone bashes M/Ts completely or A/Ts completely... everyones situation with owning the car is different and their transmission shouldn't be bashed cuz of it...
