Damn 3rd to 6th? How does that save gas? By the time you get your rpms up so you can shift clean into 6th youve wasted more gas.

I think it is better to shift to all points but keep it below the 2000rpm range.

Exactly shift @ or below 2,000 RPMs to save (lots of) gas.

All around I am getting about 24-25 mpg with my Z. On the freeway I was hitting 27-28. Stay below that 2000. You can do it!

Press the clutch down completely. However once moving in 1st gear you can shift in peak range without the clutch at all. I used to do this on a Cobra cause the clutch was without assist. It's a bit tricky and probably not recomended but it won't grind, and it will sliip into gear. Remember that your revs will be comming down and your foot has to be off the gas and then you shift at the range is falling. This will allow the rpm's and trans to be sync and thats when you can flow from gear to gear.

Pressing the clutch down disengages the clutch.

shifting 3rd to 6th or shifting below 2k rmp will not save you gas. In fact, it's the opposite. you're using more power to turn the bigger gears. I also advise against pressing the pedal half way. learn to shift properly or bad habits are hard to break, later down the road/

That is because the additional ports open at higher rpms. For the 8, you need to keep it below that rpm to save gas.

How can you rev match after you've disengaged the clutch?

Enlighten me then...

Because last time I checked, I'm using power mostly to push through air. Having the engine spin faster only requires more work and friction.

Frank acceleration to your cruising speed (~70% throttle so the ECU stay in close loop) with an upshift to 6th uses minimum gas. High revs aren't bad as long as you're in closed loop.

Manual clearly suggest that fully depress the clutch when you shift.
or sometimes I semi-powershift 2-4th gear without the clutch just for fun, and nope, it doesn't hurt transmission when you do it right
