I was on a roadtrip from seattle to baltimore. When I was there they suggested for me to get the 30,000 servince instead of a tuneup. So what do you guys think?

Biggest mistake ever, IMO. If we had left the ones behind that deserved it or didn't give a **** about getting an education to begin with, teachers could have ficussed more on TEACHING than croud control and the lot of 'em wouldn't have gotten a sub-par education and turned out like this guy.

I follow all the recommended service schedules. I plan on getting my 30,000 mile service done.

I had it done but one of my friends who is a mechanic said he could have done what the stealership did for much less $$$. So either take it to the dealer or have a mechanic do it but give him the owners manual so he can see what he has to do at 30k.

just because a guy doesn't speak English well, does not mean he is uneducated or stupid. Obviously this guy is not a regular - but that is not a reason to bash him either. Just a dude asking a question about his car from people knowledgeble about that particular car.

That being said...he should probably get the service done when it is recommended. Plus that is a long road trip - at least have someone look at it and see if maintenance can wait until he gets back to Seattle.

I stopped getting regular service, as i have too many mods, they don't change much except maybe my fuel filter and fluids at most. I check my own brakes and other minor maintenance so it's not worth it for me. If you are stock though, stick with the manufacturers service. Ask for a discount as most dealers have coupons.

If you are approaching 30,000 miles then, yes, you should have the 30,000 mile service done before going on a cross country trip. And I think it is worth it to have the Nissan dealer do it even if somewhat more expensive. BUT do not let dealer add service over & above what manual recommends.

If the car is at 29,000 miles, yes, have it serviced before the trip.
