Default Picking up my 06 enthusiast tomorrow!!

i'm so f*cking excited!! mad props to Dialn24 for helping me out with getting the car.

i just have one quick question: what should i look for when i'm inspecting my car to see if everything's ok? theyre driving it here from 300miles away. obviously ill check for scratches, dents n all that. i'm just worried i might miss something.

thanks!!

check for any scratches on the interior and any rock chips on the bumper. more importantly, check for any rubber stuck inside the wheel wells

make sure they don't "prep/detail" the car. dealers usually have either an on-site automated car wash or reuse the same bucket of wash water on dozens of vehicles daily, either of which is horrible for your car.

Man it`s your new car!! don`t let them drive it 300 miles.. I would inssit on a flat bed...then go over the whole car with a fine toothcomb (just an expression) before signing anything...Then Enjoy...

My dealer had to get my Z from 3 states over. Said they would have a guy drive it back. I pretty much told them they were full of ****. They sent a trailer, and I got my Z with less then 3 miles on it Don't let them drive it.

DO NOT let them drive it for 300 miles!!!!!!!!

what if they beat the sh*t out of the car for those 300 miles? which are supposed to be break-in miles? too many risks......have them trailer it and get to ur house with no extra miles or pick it up urself.....

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT let them drive the car for you......

edit: damnit i'm too late.....

u could do inspections, but the truth is if they messed with the car the syptoms won't show up until later.....breakin in a motor is important for prolonging the life of the motor...let's just hope the driver treated the car right for the entire trip....damn u took such a big risk for a car that u're so excited about getting...

at this point if u could and u want to go alll out, just take it to a trusted mechanic and do everything from cylinder compression check to alignment

your car will be fine =) .... your car will be fine. Just remember that you have to be 100% before leaving the dealer. You are going to love your new car!

Angry

A week after I picked up my 06 Enthusiast I noticed 2 tiny tiny paint chips(no bigger than tip of a pen) by the gas filler door (with surface rust on them); and I had never filled it up yet.... I'm pretty sure the F'ing car porter did it when I picked it up from the dealer and he went to top off the tank. I know its difficult not to slam the gas pump into the car body when trying to fill up ......

Anyways take a look around the fuel filler door.... the dealer said they would fix the 2 chips for me even though they said they weren't there when I picked it up BS!!!!

And I wish I could tell you how it turned out but I haven't had a chance to get the paint chips fixed at the dealer and I'm a little worried they will do a **** job and not take care of the surface rust.

I think I'm going to make my own thread about this!!!

Good Luck with your Z..... and enjoy!

This isn't a big risk at all.

Dealer trade drivers aren't typically out there ragging the crap out of cars. In fact, they are probably treated worse at the dealership between test drives, salespeople, and lot workers.

The fact of the matter is dealer trade happens all the time without any incident whatsover. Every dealer trade driver I have ever met has been very responsible and has taken good care of the car. Why? Because they want the money of going to get the car. That and a dealer isn't going to put up with constant problems and insurance issues if that driver constantly did things bad to the car. Heck, if I didn't trust the process, I surely wouldn't have gotten my last two cars as dealer trades from somewhat close to this distance.

Is there a risk? Sure. Things can happen out of the driver's control. It could happen on a flat bed or a test drive too.

I can understand being bummed about the miles though, but IMO, it's a small price to pay to get exactly what you are looking for. Especially, considering there was 1 out there in a 12 state region equipped exactly like he wanted. There were others out there, but they were either hte wrong color or an automatic. (and yes, I have access to see what's out there by calling a friend of mine at a Nissan dealership).

As far as insisting it got put on a flat bed. Wouldn't have happened giving the situation and the price. At least not without charging the customer additional money.

When I was shopping around for mine, they had one that they could get from another dealer approx 250 miles away. They said that they will send a driver to exchange cars as long as its within 300 miles (anything over and they trailor it in). I chose to wait and get one with 10 miles on it, fresh off the delivery truck. And the do not use 16 yr old kids to drive them. It is usually a retired guy who used to work for the dealership. I would not worry about them beating up your car. Well, as long as its not The Brickyard Rat

dealer trades cost the dealership approx. $500, incase anyone was wondering. dealers prefer NOT to do it, and usually will sell the car for cheaper if you just pick it up from them.

Yup! What he said!

They just delivered mine a week and a half ago, 2 1/2 hour drive. I'm sure they were kinder to it than I would have been!

on the contrary to what everybody's saying...one time when i was getting my car serviced at nissan i was talking to the guy about how he beats the **** out of Zs when people bring them in complaining about grinding and whatnot. He said he drives them into the ground and usually he tells the owner that he saw no poroblems.
