Default Question About NAVIGATION in 350Z

Hi

I'm looking to buy a 2005 35th Aniversary 350Z.
- How important is the Navigation?
- Is it worth the extra money?
All opionions are welcome.

Since I have it, my opinion will always be biased of course. But I love it's functionality. You can add it aftermarket and it might be a better option for you since Zs with OEM nav are rare and since you're buying a used one, it will drastically reduce your pool of eligible cars.

Default Nav

Yeah, I'd have to say I would be biased also.

I have a 2005 35th Anniv with NAV and I love it. Previously, I had a 2003 Touring and it too, had NAV.

I bought my Z without nav, but I have a friend with a Z with nav. I have driven both. Personally (and probably because I'm a nerd) I prefer my aftermarket nav. Pioneer Avic Z-1. There's just something about a voice-operated 20GB hdd of my music that just turn me on a little. If I were you I would look into the cost difference between buying a Z with and without, then see what kind of functionality you could get out of an aftermarket nav for that price.

Default So you like the Aftermarket

Can I fit the aftermarket in the place where the OEM model goes?

Members here have installed LCDs in factory cubby and the Nav "brain" (single DIN) in the factory stereo location, using the other half for the stereo.

I opted to get the AVIC-N2 with the flip out screen. AVIC was 1300 compared to 2k for the stock navi. Plus is has more functionality then the stock one does.

I have an 06' Touring Roadster and I have the stock Nav. I LOVE IT! I love the factory look. I just dropped off my car today to have the Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD installed (im taking out my Bose system), Including all new speakers, sub and amps. This one has a 6-disc CD/DVD changer inside the unit so I can put in 6 of my favorite movies and I can also control my ipod on the 7" touchscreen. It also operates with my audio controls on my steering wheel and works with my OEM Nav by dimming the stereo when giving directions. This would be the only way to go for me!

If you can find one you like and the price is right go for it with nav. If not, you can easily add it with aftermarket stuff. (I have 05 35th with Nav and I do love it, when I go places I am unfamiliar with)

You might want to check with Nissan on the upgraded disc's compatibililty. I don't know if it would be backwards compatible with older Z's nav's since the '06 has a different GUI plus Birdview etc. Might wanna check that.

there are two update discs one for 03-05 navi and another for 06 navi. the one I have is for the 03-05 and includes an upgrade disc which updates some of the older navi's features. nissan does not sell these disc there is a company who makes it for them and they have a website do a search and you will find more info on this.
