Out of all the cars that ive driven on a regular basis....the Z has, by far, the best AC...very cold.

I have only owned my Z for about two weeks but yesterday I ran it hard to about 120 mph and the air appeared to shut off completely. Not the fan, but the compressor definitely shut down.

So yes, you do lose power when you use your AC. Which is why it reduces your fuel efficiency; we drive the same speed, but need more fuel to maintain that speed and extra power drain.
True statement!

At peak load, 134A systems (that's the modern refrigerant) require about 2.5 HP per ton of refrigeration (1 ton = 12,000 Btu's) Conventional automotive systems are 2.5 to 4 tons. I would estimate our systems at about 3 tons.

So modern aoto A/C systems can add about a 6-10 HP max load. Our system is probably about 7-8 hp peak load.

And BTW, all modern auto A/C systems have some method of dropping out the compressor under heavy accell or WOT, so when you are calling for power, the A/C shuts down.

I can definitely feel a big difference when I turn on my AC, that's why I just bought underdrive pulleys.

I think our A/C sucks. I think toyota/Lexus have the best A/C. It feels like a freezer in those cars and it works faster than honda and nissan and bmw.

I never use A/C. Drop the top. I have a roadster.

The Z AC is incredible. I was thinking of getting an underdrive pulley not just because I thought the power would be nice, but because I'll never use the AC to its full potential . It's summer here now though, I've been using it a bit more than before

EDIT I dynoed with the AC on and still ran 233whp, it can't be that much of a pull...?

As i said..."Our system is probably about 7-8 hp peak load"

And the compressor disengages at WOT.

An underdrive pulley for the A/C compressor is kinda silly, IMO. If you want to reduce the compressor load, just raise the temp setting on the A/C control (or turn it off)

I totally feel the A/C loss. I always kick off the A/C when I need to accelerate from a stoplight or pass someone or whatever. Totally noticable.

The Nissan engineers have already done that for you.

I hunch down real low in the seat, flip my hat backwards, empty any loose change and turn my air off. Gains me 2/10ths of a second on my quarter mile.
