Targa Top Z
Anyone know how much it costs to do this? I'm beginning to look at this seriously, and was wondering if anyone would know. Thanks everyone.

i dont know how much it would cost, but im sure it wont be cheap. besides, i bet cutting the roof like that, without adding structural rigidity, would make your Z creak and rattle like a *****!

really? squeaking? why's that? If it's cut close to the end of the windshield, then right above the headrest, would it really make a big different to the structural support? I'm not really going to be racing or anything, so I don't care for more drag or less aerodynamcis.

it will most likely leak, and Id say cost would be around 5-10grand... my concern would be that the roof could no longer support a roll over. in convertables the windsheild has to support the weight of the car, and they are designed as such. in a hard top, they dont have that kind of structure up there.
I dont think its a realistic option. but notice I said realistic, with enough cash, you could make the Z into an airplane. but since I know you, I know your budget probably wouldnt cover such a conversion. only way to know for sure would be to ask, but first youd have to find someone to reccomend a shop in your area that could do such work. and do it well.

makes sense, 5-10g? wow. I was thinking more about 3-5. Why's it so much? All they do is cut the roof, make it so you can connect the top and disconnect it. Nothing major. Bearly any parts, only labor. Plus, how many of you rolled over in a car? I don't plan to do anything that'll make it roll. So that isn't a big concern. But if it's truely 5-10, I might have to forget it.. :| 3-5, I'll do it.

Could you add a roll bar behind the seats to protect in a rollover. I'm not sure how much the roof would provide in support anyway. It seems it would be more behind and in the windshield area, meaning where support comes from.
