Coil Over Question
I've had the car for well over a year so I'm not sure if I still qualify as a newb, but here goes:
I'd really like to begin upgrading some of the stock OEM parts on the car <mostly for better handling purposes> particularly the brakes and the coilovers. Is it possible to replace the factory shocks and springs with a coilver kit but not change the original settings? I notice when some of you guys add these on it's to either lower the car or change the suspension for autox-ing. I just want to improve the ride and handling capabilities of the vehicle, hence a suspension/brake upgrade. Just wanted to know if getting coilovers necessarily means lowering the vehicle too..

not at all. but i do believe that the geometry as in height of the shock/coil set-up usually is shorter than the stock set-up. another option would be to get a good spring/shock combo. something like some KYB/tokico shocks with whatever kind of spring you would want to run. that mantioned set-up would be perfect if you are not going to be attending any type of track events and just want something for civil driving purposes.
