Default Transmission, Dealer and myself

Bad luck this whole week guys. First, I lost my sliver cell.
2nd, neighbor backed up on the left rear side of the Z and today took the car to the dealer due to 5th gear grind. I had this grind 4mos ago but now its
worst. I first took the Z for that complaint when i had 58k miles and dealer gave me run around and they said that i really have to push in the clutch and
then throw it to the 5th gear. at that time they gave me the reason
that the only way to be sure is to hook it up to their computer for
diagnostic but they didnt find anything. So now im back and told them
that its worst than before. After an hour of waiting service rep
called me in. Tech confirmed the grind and what he said that they need to take the transmission apart to find out whats wrong with it and it will
cost me $800 for open her up and since I have 64kmiles its not covered
by the warranty. I'm like WTF! Then he said that he will call nissan
after they opened her up to see if they will cover it.

This really sux! What should I do guys? Who are the people here
that got their transmission replaced? How did you guys tackled
this issue? I wonder what are the percentage of the Zs that are having
transmission problems? Pls. share. Thx guys!

Had a new longblock replaced at 48K
New Tranny and Clutch replaced at 54K

Its a brand new car now but my repairs were all under 60k. If you have proof that you spoke with them 4 months ago then maybe they can get nissan to cover the tranny. Nissan knows there is a problem.

Good luck!

since you brought it in at 58k they should have the file for it. say you told them the problem then but they failed to acknowledge it. complain to NNA if they wont fix it for free.

i have 29k getting new trans swap right now, going to pick it up soon. it was teh same deal here. I told them 2 years ago that there was a grind in 3rd, they couldnt replicate and i couldnt either. but now, every downshift will grind, and it is very very obvious. so they ordered me a new trans. but only after persistance.
