I've got an 06 and it has 1700 miles on it and I still haven't been above 4500 rpm. And thats only because I pushed it a little recently since I've gone past the 1200 mile break-in period. I mean, the car is REALLY moving if you are shifting at 4k+. After about 3rd gear or so, you're already well above the posted speed limit. There are cops everywhere around here so I haven't found the right time and place to go any faster.

Most cars get this **** driven out of them before you even drive the car. I don't know about you, but when I test drive a car, I do at least 1 WOT run to about 60 or so to get an idea of the power/speed. Most others do the same. Not to mention the salesmen who drive the car...

Default 6 days for me

Mine hit that magic 1000 mile mark today...... as I drove in a benefit poker run --- the run was mostly for bikers... but ... it was a nice day for a drive! ... and what the heck...... those first 1000 miles came in just 6 days for me..... and I'm an OLD guy!!!........... Thanks to all those on this site who are so pleasant, knowledgable, and supportive of some of us new guys!

Man 7 weeks to hit 1000?
It's been about 7 weeks for me and I'm at nearly 3500.

...I have taken a couple big trips though.

i think one of the main reasons you will see stuff in the owners manual is to cover missans ***,, just in case kinda thing

but dont get me wrong, while i think its ok to take it pass 4k(rpm) i dont think people should push it hard all the time.

it wont hurt anything but i wouldnt push it to hard.
+1. Engine is already broken in from the factory. Do what you will with it, but I haven't pasted 6K yet. I will soon though!

There is no break in, drive it like you stole it off the lot.

It's like Jaywalking. Sure there is a law about it, but breaking that law hurts no one and nothing.

Wow, hope you are still under warranty! I purchased the Gold warranty - I believe it goes up to 75,000 miles. Gives me some peace of mind anyhow. On my 95 Maxima I used the warranty a bit, new starter, 2 electric window mechanisms, cd player - parts/labor arent cheap any more. that is where the dealer grabs you!

^ Haha, yea. People that just don't know how to spell are just.. it's annoying for me to read that.. (i.e. break & brake, to & too, its & it's, etc)
