Question Flooded Block

I have a friend with a RSX type S who thought he go through a flood over 15 inches high with a cold air intake that goes down leaving the filter maybe 10 inches or less off the ground. He made if across the flood, but at the end the car siezed. It wouldn't start up after 20 mins. The car drives fine and we checked the dipstick, and the oil is still good.
I remember when I did the same thing, but wasen't so lucky. My car siezed right in the middle of the flood. I have a 97 accord lowered with AEM cold air intake and the filter sits 5 inches off the ground. I had to get towd home and when I drained the oil, it was completely muddy. My cousin is a mechanic thank god. And he opened the spark plugs and left it open while cranking the engine and spraying in some type of cleaner. This would push out all the oil, water and cleaner from the top of the block when cranking. Since then, my car is fine and running strong.

Even though he was fortunate not to completly flood his block. How much can the engine take before it gets worser? Were going to change the oil and clean the blook through the spark plugs tommorow.

The term you want to do a search for is Hydra or Hydrolock. There has been a lot of discussion about it lately.
