Go to the Nissan Tech site: http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/

Sign up for a 1 day access ($20) then download the PDF files for the factory service manuals.

HAH I actually got the PDF from another member I'd be kinda nice to have Chiltons and Haynes as an extra resource though. Comeon Chiltons, hurry up.

Personally I find the Chilton/Haynes manuals too generic. I've checked them out from the library to work on other cars and there's a lot of the manual that just doesn't match the reality.

After watching a friend over torque, and subsequently break, a bolt due to an incorrect spec in a Haynes manual I've become a believer in factory service manuals.

I agree.

Do the Nissan factory manuals cover things like removing door panels, interior work, etc. ?

Do they assume a good deal of mechical ability or are they "user friendly" for beginners?

Thanks,
Joe

I'm pretty sure the manual has directions for doing anything to the car...

I'm pretty positive it has the door panel removal instructions as the window motor TSB was issued also..

Thanks,

For the most part, the FSM does have everything "step-by-step", i.e. removing the door panels.

They assume some basic mechanical ability and understanding. After all, the intended audience is a dealer technician.

You'd be surprised...there's plenty of typos in my FSM for my 240SX.

Took about 4 Hours to DL the Whole Thing, but well Worth it.

If you just open each section, let it download and save them all to the same directory, the FWD index will work from your local PC. VERY NICE and THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Thanks a ton for that link. I've been wanting the service manual for a while.

The whole thing is like 112 megs(can someone verify?). It's on a japanese server so it's pretty slow and it's a serious pain to go through and download each file individually(which I ended up doing anyway).

I zipped/compressed them into a single file (67megs) and will send it to anyone who needs it. Shoot me a PM if you want it.

Now that these two manuals exist, does anyone have a preference? I have the FSM and it's OK, but the diagrams are a little weak compared to the photos that you usually get in these manuals. Back in my old VW days, I preferred the descriptions in Chilton, but the pictures in Haynes, so I'm not sure how things have changed. Of course, there is a wealth of information, here, but a little extra info never hurts, ImO.
Thanks for your help!

The Haynes manual for the 350Z has been out since sometime in 2008. It isn't as good as the factory service manual but it does help with a lot of smaller problems. It is available at amazon and most Autozones carry the book as well. Here is a link to the Amazon site..............
