The tire psi will never be 35 at ALL times.. the 35 psi is for when the tires are COLD. When the car has been traveling, yes, the psi will go up as the air molecules are moving faster inside the tire due to the heat. Just make sure you're at 35 psi COLD. No need to worry about what it is when the tires are warm.

IMO i try to stay away from gas station pumps, they put out nearly as much water as air... I usually use the air compressor at work because it has a filter and dryer on it.
If you wanted to keep it completely even on each side of the vehicle get one of these...

They're not expensive, I don't think. Check your local auto stores like O'Reily's or AutoZone or places like Wal-Mart and Target. Just don't get those crappy cheap *** ones though.

I don't think you need to worry about spending lots of money on simple tools like air pumps.. nor should you worry about certain brands. You should just go and browse the selection and pick the one that sounds good, I guess.

That's a pressure guage if I'm not mistaken. You're looking for an air compressor. They're pretty cheap and some of them will plug into the car's AV outlet. I need to get one myself because as someone said earlier...the compressors at gas stations put out a lot of water.

how much are compressors usually? I think my g/f's dad has one. I just want I guess something that stops air flow at 35 lb's of pressure or lets me know when it is 35 so I dont have to check then pump check release etc.

here's one for $40 at walmart. I'm not sure if it automatically shuts off at a set pressure setting but that's no big deal. Just inflate your tires to about 36-37 psi then bleed the rest off til you get 35.

does that have a gauge on it? i found a handheld pressure gauge and it said every tire last night after sitting for 3 hours was at 35, well i get in it this morning and they are all 33 !

Dude, chill. It's just an air pump. Just get something decent.
As for the change in tire pressure. Last night, it was probably warmer than it was this morning. So when warm, it read 35. This morning, because it was probably slightly less warm, it read 33. No big deal. 2 or 3 differences in psi isn't gonna kill you.

Watching this thread is like waiting for a car wreck to happen.... it's only a matter of time that things will get ugly.
I find it hard to believe this thread has gone on so long.
I originally read it because I was curious on how to pressurize an ECU .. not a debate how accurate the trip/multifunction computer is.
Besides.. if you had 6 different gauges.. you'd likely get 6 different readings -- hardly a concern as the tires won't explode if they aren't accurate to within 0.1 psig.. or 1 psi for that matter.

oh ok, im just trying to prevent the tires from wearing unevenly and quicker then they need to. In my last SUV, i got i **** you not 15 thousand miles on them and they were bald as hell. Why? Because Ford put different tires on them then were originally on there from the factory, and the ones they put on took 40 lbs of air not 35.

You do realize that making sure the tire has the right amount of air pressure and maintaining them is YOUR job, and not the job of wherever/whoever/whatever you bought the car from, right? You can't blame somebody else for YOU not checking the air pressure in your tires.
