new window problem with Z (goes down 1/3 way by itself when im not in car!)
So ive had the strange window problem where if you click the auto up button on the drivers side it will go up and back down 1/3 of the way since last summer. I know TONS of people have this problem and it doesnt bother me that much cuz all i do is hold the button now. I notice the funny thing is this problem only happens when its like more than 65 degrees outside (fall and winter no issues). Well i have a brand new issue that has happened 2 times in the last 3 weeks and it REALLY bothers me. It seems that if its hot outside (not at night it hasnt happened) and i leave the car and turn on the alarm 2 times i have come back to the car and the drivers window be 1/3 down ALL BY ITSELF.....this is insane, im assuming this issue still has to do with the window regulator but im wondering if any of you have encountered this problem with it going down by itself when not in the car, and if so what you did to fix it?

mine does it on hot days. I think its the same issue that causes the window to roll down when i roll it up. The heat cause the metal jams and glass to expand to where the window controller rolls it down.
I was pissed when i saw it the first time, it had rained like hell but luckily it didnt roll down till the next day when it was 90+ out

I have had this happen to me starting very recently, Only when the car is on though. It will go all the way up, then come down 1/3. Happened about 6 times in the past month. It was fixed on this car before too

my thought on this is that mine has kinda done this lately.
in my scenario, i hold the window button up to get the passenger window to go up and stay up. then i turn the car off and open my door to get out and then when i shut my door, the jarring of the door shutting causes the passenger window (which has already been up) to come down the 1/3 of the way.
maybe yours is doing this and you just havent noticed after you have gotten out of the car.

Try resetting the window motor, if that doesn't work buy a new motor.
To reset motor take off door panel. You will notice a black button in the center of the door. Hold it down while rolling down the window. Then roll it up (do not use auto-up...hold the button the window switch the whole way up)

Do you also have to hold down the black button in the center of the door while you are rolling the window back UP ?
Thanks for the tip. I may have to try it.

No, that's normal.
What we're talking about is a significant opening in the window, for no apparent reason. I just started noticing it myself.
It seemed to start after I was trying that feature of opening both windows at the same time from outside the car with the key. I thought this was a really great feature and could make it convenient to "crack" both windows on a hot day, etc.
BUT . . . . now what's happened?

Out of curiosity,
could it have been the unlock button was being pressed in your pocket or something? just another possibility? Or is it some random spasm your car makes by rollling down the window
