damn my last post for the afternoon
I have worn the same helmet but after 6 shots of Petron - silver
On a serious note I picked manual because I always wanted a M/T car...I've had 2 cars since I've been driving, first was a 1990 Nissan Sentra and the second was a 2000 civic ex...both of which were automatic because my parents payed for both cars. The Z is the first car that I'm buying on my own so I figured, hey I might as well get what I WANT!!! Oh yeah and NO REGRETS!!!
If it were up to safety nuts, MTs and tachometers would no longer exist in automobiles because they inspire dangerous behavior in spirited driving.
This was actually purposed back in the mid 60s, in the hey day of "Unsafe at any speed".
Fight the power!
Ok, they are not really "the power" but they'll take what they can get.

Personally I love to drive stick because you feel more connected to the car and in control. with an auto, sure some people like it cause stop and go can somtimes be hard with manual but i just love it... if i drive auto to long i just wanna fall asleep im so bored but with MT even if its a POS i still have more fun driving it then a nice auto car!. just my 2 cents
MT is more fun to drive.
AT definitely has it's advantages (easier to drive, easier in stop and go traffic, etc), but I just think sports cars should have manual transmissions.
Whatever floats your boat.

M/T is IMO the ONLY way to go when purchasing a true sports car. Now, dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with the autos, but clutch and sports car go together like peanut butter and jelly...you could always eat just a jelly sandwich but damn, it just aint the same! lol
With A/T, you can talk on the cell phone or have a drink while driving . .
And why buy one? Because its a sports car and its illegal to have a sports car with an Auto.
Been there, done that with the M/T. Great for a while but it gets old. With M/T, you always wished once in a while that you had an A/T. While driving an A/T, I had never, ever wished I had an M/T. And when it's time to sell, A/T has a higher resale value for obvious reasons and attracts more buyer$.

I have never wished I had an AT in my Z, not even while driving hours in stop and go through LA traffic (think Woodland Hills to Huntington beach on Thursday at 5:30 down 101/405).
Maybe if I lived in San Francisco. I go up there a few times a year and can get around OK for the most part but there have been a few times on the hills when all I could see was the sky out of the windshield, some taxi just pulled up on my tail and the cross traffic does not have to stop where I think, "Yeah, remind me to bring the wifes Pathfinder next time".

With a MT, you can get better MPG than that advertised. My recent update after 3 weeks is: 920 miles traveled (roughly 10% freeway / 90% city) consuming 32.6 gallons = 28.x MPG
This includes screwing around on the freeway in 4th for ~10 miles and redlining 2nd a bunch of times the 2nd time I filled up
The bottom line is a MT will allow you to shift to conserve gas. Mind you, driving and getting 19MPG as the sticker claims will cause you to run out of gas 8 gallons quicker than I would if we were to drive on 16.x gallons.
In all, MTs are bad ***
