From what I can tell you both were at the intersection with you behind the truck, the light turns green and the truck takes off and so do you then the truck stops all of a sudden and you rear end him.... Did he give you an explanation for stopping all of a sudden?
Sounds like you were right on his bumper... next time you might want to leave some room between you and the car in front of you in case something like this happens again.... Live and learn...

Just want to re-state a few things
1) A person can be driving on the highway. He slams on his brakes so that he stops so quickly you see his tires in pieces and you hit him from the back. Its your fault. He could fall alseep being the wheel and you slam into him from the back... its your fault. Should it? Idk I guess not but you should be paying attention.
2) Nobody is a perfect driver. We all make mistakes, live and learn. If all you need is a new bumper then be happy, atleast you didnt bend ur frame or mess other things up. (never been into an accident so idk what you can really break that makes the car totalled)
3) I am 19...almost 20. I am a college student. And I bought my car with my own money. I bought it used. I bought it for cash in full. I was the one who talked to the dealer and haggled with him. All my father did was take put the thing is his name so that insurance wont kill me (even tho it is) And he has all the access to my bank account. It sometimes makes me angry when people look at me driving a nice sports car and say "Your lucky that your parents got you that" or some other wise *** comment. I worked hard all my life. Every dollar I made went to the bank. Now I have a reward. Also we are immigrants (yes laugh and i probably spelled the word wrong too). And everyone who were fresh off the boat (including their parents ofcourse) know that immigrants expect their children to work hard for what they have.... it makes you appreciate it more.
Anyways what im trying to say is, get over it. It happened. You are probably mad, it will pass. Get it fixed and enjoy the car.
And dont automatically come to a conclusion that if a teenager is driving a fancy car (well nothing extreme) their parents bought it for them. None of my friends got a car from their parents Everyone I know worked hard and earned what they have.

You rear-end someone at an intersection, you lose. Not only you lose your front bumper, you lose money paying for it. Speaking of losing, you will also lose value on your Z. Losing value is one thing, but you also lost your car's virginity. Its a no-win situation.
This reminds me of all the times I've had my doors blown off on the highway by chicks putting on their makeup. One day it was a chick in a porsche 911, the VERY NEXT DAY it was a chick in an M3. They drive so fast and they aren't even looking at the road. It makes me want to follow them to wherever they're going and donkey punch the makeup right off their face.
Then you get these jackasses bobbing and weaving and swerving all over and cutting people off and not paying the slightest bit of attention.... Oh... you're on the phone, MY BAD!!!.... :: proceeds to lay on the horn and pretend like nothing is happening ::
People need to remove their heads from their asses, and focus on driving.

does it matter that i had a bunch of trash (dirt) caked onto my windshield and decided to wipe it off with the wipers and go about my business...but while i couldn't see a car stopped suddenly in front of me and i hit him?
NO...
I knew i was at fault so i followed him to the nearest conv. store and we got out and checked it out... I was prepared to "eat it" but the guy seemed like he was in a hurry and just left...
lucky me...
lesson learned...

Get ready for higher rates, at your age, claims, ect! Next time, PAY ATTENTION! LIVE AND LEARN! I did the same thing you did, but I was fidgeting with the radio, checking out other surroundings, instead of the traffic up ahead! Light was green, and whammo! BTW, I was 16!
Get it fixed and chalk it up as a lesson learned!

Your fault, plain and simple. Pay the man, get your **** fixed, and be done with it.
Yeah, I've seen John's car, yours will never, and I mean never, look that good. I'm pretty sure since he's banking ~90-100K/year, is married with a kid, he probably paid for his car on his own, no help from mommy and daddy.
