I man enough to admit the Coupe is more buff looking with its fixed top, but you should really drive a Roadster before baggin on it. It's way more fun driving it then the coupe version. I used to be anti-convertables until I test drove the 350z Roadster for the kicks of it, afterwards I couldn't get the grin off my face...

Atleast the Roadster (top down anyways) looks unique, where as the coupe looks like a Porsche wanna be

Let the fighting commence

hehe

Yea, Im sure the average Z driver can tell a difference in daily driving between the handling aspects of the Z vs. the ZR......

You can't beat the looks you get passing someone on the highway with the top down.

Top down = so, so look

Top up = amish buggy look

The Z was designed to be a coupe, that is why it is so damn fine looking. the rag top really is a design disaster, IMHO

Check your facts. The Z was designed and engineered with the roadster in mind.

Then why was the concept car (which I personally saw at the LA Auto Show), a coupe? I think you may be a little off in your "facts". In any event, the roadster is not good looking at all with the top up, and it barely gets a passing grade with the top down, IMHO. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thats just like saying the Z coupe looks ugly with a car cover on. The ZR is meant to be driven with the top down, with the top being a cover. It really comes down to either you like convertibles or you dont. So those who are converitible enthusiasts, they made a great choice by getting it in the form of the Z.

http://car-reviews.automobile.com/Ni...road-test/985/

While the 350Z was initially designed and engineered with a convertible model in mind, the roadster still weighs a little more than its hard top sibling - 216 pounds to be exact.

The concept seems simple, but the job of converting Nissan's fastback sports car into a convertible is an involved one. The Z was designed with this body configuration in mind, so it's hardly an aftermarket chop job.

It takes away from the lines - for one reason it is a bit longer, I questioned a Nissan rep at the big auto show about that. Tje area behind the rear window therefore looks different.

I dont think they should have made a ZR either. Isnt this the first Z car with a drop top. I know the z32 had a targa but doesnt that take a little away from the heritage and tradition of Z cars by making vert?

I believe they shouldnt have made a ZR, but IMHO the fact that they made a 5AT available for this car is beyond me...(flame suit on)

DISCLAIMER: The ZR does look good with the top down

With this Z, I think they were trying to appeal to a larger crowd - seeing how it has automatic transmissions, lots of different trims, and a convertible version.

Exactly. But seeing as how you dont see any EVO's, S2000's, STi's with auto trans you would almost assume that the Z, which is in some peoples opinion more of a sports car than any of those cars listed, wouldnt offer an automatic transmission.
