Do you like what they did with the 06 Z?

cup holders? What for? 200 extra pounds? Why?
The head lights and tail lights aren't bad, but were they needed? how about making the 06's lighter? how about making the windows not get grease stains on them each time you roll them down?

I really do not feel the torque and hp issue made a big difference. All models still run similar times anyhow.
It would of been awesome to lower the amount of weight in the car. You would think such a small car could weigh less. Other than that, I would change nothing on the 06.

you're not holding the gear any longer. As was said here, the GEARING IS THE SAME.
and, since you can't read, he did say "the 6600 redline on the other motor is way too low" ........... one of the dumbest statements I've heard in a long, long time. Aside from the fact that it's 6500 and the limiter kicks in at about 6750.
It is a FACT.. The 06 does NOT have 200 pounds on the 03-05.. Myself and a bunch of mid-A guys went to the track with our Z's and put them on the same scale.. My Z which is an 06 was within 10 pounds of my buddies 03, granted mine has an after market exhaust and test pipes. That does not shed 200 pounds though by any means. Saying that the 06 is a disgrace is ridiculous, if someone offered you an 06 for your 03-05 you would take it. You can debate the head lights and tails all day long, but you can't deny that the new interior updates are more appealing to the eye.
Answer me some questions.... Does the 06 have tire feathering issues?
Does the 06 have power window issues? Or how about faulty trans issues? Do the 03-05s have HIDs? Do 03-05s come with 35th anniversery wheels standard? I agree, who cares about cup holders.. But, the 06 is far from a disgrace.. You can argue the torque vs. extra hp all day, but it's not an issue for my 06 being that it's turbo. I'de take my 06 over an 03-05 ANYDAY!

Been in an 03... now in a new 06' ... Headlights are an improvement. They are BiXenon now, not reflector HIDs. The tails are questionable but the LED is the current "upgrade" many manufacturers are going. The rev-up motor (300hp) has many revisions to the older version. Revised cam profiles, intake plenum not to mention the revised front suspension. Brakes are now larger in the 06'. In fact a mere .2" smaller than the Brembos. Save for using lesser calipers of course....
This being said, most of the negative remarks against the 06' are from people who plainly just do not own one. Again, I've been driving both and although there is publication out there stating that the 06' is heavier, I have yet to see anything real world to prove this. In fact my 06' has been a few tenths quicker in the 1/4 mi than the 03'. In comparisons w/ other pre-revup Zs (stock) the top end in the 06' (3rd gear and above) seems to show.. This is just experience I have had w/ these cars and by no means any conclusion. In fact I think the cars are set up very differently, but should be similar in performance. Dyno runs on both show that there is DEFINATELY a larger difference than 13 hp. I'm sure most can agree that you can have 2 03' pre-revup Zs dynoed and there could be a 13hp difference in those two cars as well. I'm one for advancement, and believe the 06' revup is just one of those.

Well cup holders... what for you ask?... to hold drinks while your driving maybe?.... and as for the question of are the new headlights and tail lights needed... well is anymore HP/TQ than the 06 Z really needed?... Do you really NEED 450 whp like many Z owners have?... Also I've never gotten grease stains on my Z so I have no idea what your talking about on that one... but making the Z a little lighter is never a bad thing...
Haters.. Nissan just did thing right this time.. lol for the 20th time..! CCVT for the intake and exhaust really make the difference along with the revised plenum, Brakes suspension also has been tweaked even further. "Less torque" rev-up can make up for that but can previous make up for those extra hp with just adding a spacer..NOPE, sure we just may get 3-5 whp out of it but the torque numbers are +10.. "Are those HL and TL necessary..?" then why do I get PM's saying hey bro u plan on getting rid of your lights.. let me know aight.. even my rims.. many say i got the heavy Z, but i look at their 35th Edition with bose, heated seats, eletronics and all this.. i cant beleive there calling us FAT.. I dont recall my Z weighting that much as NISSAN really says...maybe stock but as we mod.. this is what happens: my Z dropped 3127lbs at the scale they had at the car shpping place since it's going on the boat, they had to know the weight.. with lighter rims and CF hood I think this bad boy is going to weight roughly 3k lbs.. So hate all you want... REV UP REVOLUTION

The "rev-up" (if you want to called a 400rpm bump in redline "rev-up") motor was purely a marketing move so the car could be said to hve that magical 300hp number. The car is no faster whatsoever. The other engine changes do make for a better feeling motor, although driving my 287 motor with Nismo headers still feels nicer to me than a stock 300hp motor.
As far as weight goes, published weight figures for many cars are off from what they really are. The only real thing to do is to weigh the cars. If the new model is 200lbs heavier than the old, please show me where the weight is, because I don't see it.
As with any car, there will be a few evolutionary changes to keep things fresh. Does it make the car that much better.....not really. Just my $0.02

I've done a few reviews of the two cars, but overall I think the '06 drives better.
You can say I can't read, it doesn't bother me. Whether his post said 6600 or 6750, the point is the same, that the redline has increased in the newer models. I don't know the guy, and I'm not here to defend him, I just don't see his why post bothers you so much.
The 06 is a step up in stock form, but who keeps their Z stock? we can argue all day about how the 03-05 are better and vice versa but i think for the most part all Z's are the same. 06 does come stock with HIDs and LEDs but i believe the sticker price is a little more so u end up paying for the little extra's. As for the interior, the 06 interior does seem more refined but over all i think all Z's have sh!tty interior. We shouldnt be battling with each other, just keep the modding up and we should just all get along.
btw,
Dont knock the 03-05 owners, cause if we didnt buy any 03-05 Zs, there wouldnt be an 06

After reading this thread it sounds like the '03-'05 Z owners are a little ticked off at us '06 owners because our Zs have improvements. Sure the 03-05's had problems that are now fixed but that happens with every car. I was always told to never buy a new model car the first year it comes out...you're basically just a free "beta tester" for the manufacturer. You'll help the manufacturer discover what's wrong with the car and it'll be improved on the next year's model. But just look at all the Z's on this forum...it really doesn't matter what year they are..there are some very nice cars on here so just be happy with what you got. Who knows the '07s could be 400lbs lighter and feature even more improvments...then I guess us '06 owners can be bitter at the '07 guys.
I'm pretty sure the 06's did not gain 200lbs. I'll be weighing mine this weekend but I'm almost 100% postive it'll weigh the same as the '03-'05 models.

The 300Hp engine has a flatter torque profile compared to the 287Hp engine, so it has more usable torque than the 287Hp engine.

you guys are delusional if you think an '06 is a downgrade from the '03-'05 models ... stock rims are nicer, interior has been upgraded, and oh the LED brake lights...fugadaboutit (I already plan on installing them on my '05)

I have to add that people keep attacking the magical 300hp rating... Is anyone aware of the new SAE HP rating methods that are now being used by manufacturers? Believe this is for all 06' cars period. Cases to note... the Acura RSX rated at 210... now rated at 205 (this is due to the new rating system, nothing has mechanically has changed to this motor). The Acura TL... was rated since its inception as 270hp. Now rated at 258hp. Again, no changes here, just a drop due to the rating system. I have noticed some manufacturers are still claiming same #s though. The Z06 06' vette was raved for still having 505hp after the new rating was in place. Who knows maybe the 300hp rating is due to this.... just a thought.
Although I stand on my first reply, I do agree the bickering between models is ridiculous. I dont see too many 06' owners hating on pre-revups... most are just defending themselves from their remarks, which from the most part are unjustified.
I hear the 07' will have way more than 300hp along w/ many other improvements. (reading on 07' G35 articles). I think I'll be envious of the improvements...and in no way hate on it, just to make myself feel better about owning a previous year...
