The sacrifice torque for the horsepower?

that question really depends on what you intend to use the car for. i think for daily driving, it's enough torque to drive spirited and not feel underpowered. that's really the only thing that's up in the air, the body styling, interior improvements and such, i think majority can agree that the 06's look and feel nicer.

absolutely not....

only reason they did that was to try to compete with those 4 door family sedans that are coming with 260+++ horse power....\

the 06's were a disgrace for many reasons...
cup holders? What for? 200 extra pounds? Why?

The head lights and tail lights aren't bad, but were they needed? how about making the 06's lighter? how about making the windows not get grease stains on them each time you roll them down?

I think the 300hp engine is much better than the 287 for many reasons. But i do feel that they should've made the Z lighter..thats not possible because of the frame used by the Z shared by a truck and a sedan...

well, i like the higher redline. The 6600 redline on the regular motor is way too low imo.

what the hell does redline have to do with anything if you're still making plenty of power?

that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. With a statement like that, you should be driving an s2000.

if the redline changed, then the gearing has changed on the '06...gearing goes a long way...even if you have plenty of power.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that. 500rpm isn't that big a difference, especially when torque is lost.

I don't like the weight gain at all but the interesting thing is, I hear people
actually measuring the weight of '06 and claiming that it is not too much differ from the previous models 03-05.
well, I like the interior changes and the new headlights and taillights but u can always replace those for older model. IMO, the most "major" change
that they have made is both intake and exaust variable timing and 'beefed'
up internals so that it can take more abuse or maybe more reliable set up
for those going FI without built motor. Increased redline of 500 RPM ain't do justice but 'Rev-up' engines definately shows more top-end than previous VQ engine.

The guy just mentioned that there's a higher redline, which is a good thing, there's no need to get defensive. No one is saying that they buy a car for a high redline. In a similar sense, that would be like saying some of you buy a car for a lower redline and a little more torque. No need to throw senseless claims around.

The slightly higher redline might not seem like much, but when you're really pushing it on the track or canyons, being able to hold the gear that much longer makes a difference. The slightly higher redline coupled with the fact that the rev-up engine pulls better up top makes for a significant upgrade over the 287bhp engine.
