One thing I hate and truely hate is a clutch and transmission that are not BUILT for the car. Acura used a very ****ty tranny on the Type-S and it shows for everyone that hit 50K miles and had 2nd gear grind issues. I was one of them.

One think I hate even more than that, is a company that does not take care of it's customers. Acura would not even ackowledge my problem existed. So after 2 trips and a detiorating situation with my clutch & tranny I said the hell with it and started looking at new cars.

The Shopping List

VW GTI 2.0T
First of all I think this little guy was always a good car. But it wasn't a Z, RX-8, or S2000 calibur car. I could however load the interior up with lots of goodies and be in under 28K OTD. Unfortunately I was treated like **** at the dealership, not respected, and given a sales person who admitted he knew very little about the car.

i sold my year old 02RSX right away after just one look at a Z in 03.
i'm glad you didn't buy the VW....i had a VR6 jetta back in 2002 and got rid of it after two years because of poorly dealership experience. Speaking of my 02RSX, the battery died within a week after delivery (had to be replaced under warranty)and its wide turning radius sucked.
+1 on the turning radius. What is with that? Minivans have smaller ones.

Default My .02

I traded an 02 RSX type S for my Z. (04 Base DB)

My biggest issue was HVAC. Living in PA we have hot sticky summers and cold icy winters. (You won't have the winter issues in TX).

In the summer it couldn't keep the interior cool A/C running full blast on recirc. Took it to the dealer and they said it blew (pun intended) 1 degree colder than factory spec.

In the winter I could drive 25 miles to my office after a 10minute warmup in the driveway and both my front and back windows would not be completely defrosted. I think this explains why most of the guys on teh RSX board were from Hawaii.

Anyway, the Z is no star either when it comes to A/C and you mighht as well open the windows then try to use the vents but it gets the job done.

Only regret. I miss my sunroof. So, I bought the wife an 06 Max. VQ's for everyone!

Get the Z you won't regret it.

i'm glad i'm not the only sucker in the world who had noticed this Acura short coming. i hated it when i had to Uturn at the light. My beater 06mazda3 has been quoted by consumer report as having one of the tightest turning circle in the industry(36ft. is considered very tight). i just found out the Lotus Elise has a 33' turning radius. Guess what...i'll be getting one next year.

I'm about 2-3 months away from purchasing a '07 350Z, and I just can't wait! I currently drive an '02 RSX (auto) and it's one Hell of a slug box! I came from a 4dr Civic sedan, so the RSX was a welcoming addition.

The RSX's seats are pretty hard and believe me, it's hard! I used to commute from central Cali up to SF (nearly a 4 hr drive) and my *** would start going numb at around 2 to 3 hrs. When I get out for a stretch, I can crack my back like I haven't done it for 2 days and blood quickly rushes back into my head. That just tells you the seats aren't designed for long drives. But in short drives it is very snug and feels great around hard cornering.

And as for the turning radius, I have NEVER driven another car as **** as this, it is absolutely outragous. It is probably my #1 complain about the RSX.

I've test driven the Z and it's obviously not comparison, it's a whole new beast. It's not as agile and nimble as the RSX, though I think very close, but the Z definitely holds its own for the size and wt. The interior of the Z is more sporty and comteporary, but feel and look wise I think the RSX has an obvious edge.

But pure sexiness goes to the Z. My RSX has some 17s and full stock kit, so it looks decent, but it's no Z The rawness of the Z is just disgustingly entertaining.

------------------------------------

But ya, I considered the TL, but Acura is losing a bit of its identity, or rather, spunk it had with the Integra. It's turning into an old man's dealership lol. But they never appreciated youngsters going into their dealerships wanting to test the RSX for a joy ride. Honda prolly figures that Gen Y is going to brands like Scion *shrug*

But I'll miss my RSX when it's gone, we've been thru a lot together and helped me ****** my hot so-called gf, but i guess the Z will do even better!
