Default Subwoofer behind drivers seat

Is there supposed to be a subwoofer AND an amp in the area behind the drivers seat? If so does anyone know what the wires go to from the harness I have laying in there? Such as... "red is 12v constant"

I have attached a pic of what I'm talking about.

There's a tiny little amp there powering the tiny weak bose sub. If yo'ure thinking of re-using either, DONT. They are the crappest pieces of crap i have ever seen and they lasted 10 seconds before i threw them in the bin. I'm not sure but the 2006 model is apparently better.

I managed to drill six holes around the circle and install a 10" subwoofer there and it fit quite nicely (nutted and bolted from both sides and lined the inside of the box with dynamat.

As for the harness, I would highly recommend ignoring it and running your own 12V power wire from the battery, and directly wiring up the rear speakers because the harness wires are quite crappy and confusing. You can splice to the front door speakers from the rear amp harness (opposite the spare jack under the foam).

Is the area pre-wired on all models? Because this would be a great DIY mod. Very easy to do.

I also asume it would take an LOC to run that into a custom amp?

Whats LOC?

Yes its a touring model and sounds quite bad... well good if all someone wants is high pitch treble lol

Does anyone know where I can find out what each of those colored wires is supposed to do? Or any specs on the amp and sub that is supposed to be there?

Wire colors change from year to year. You can use a voltmeter to find out which line is 12v power, but please can i re-iterate...

DONT USE the stock subwoofer, it SUCKS (do a search and you'll find pics of it)
DONT USE the stock amp, it is CRAP and WEAK and CRAP
DONT USE the harness!!! That would mean that you are using the tiny tiny stupid little tiny power wire (RUN YOUR OWN POWER FOR THE SUB)

Hence, no need to use the harness at all.

I will probably just wire in my own power line... but does anyone know what 2 wires would be considered my "RCA Input" wires?

LOC = Line Out Converter - used to convert a sterro signal to a preamp signal. The stock headunit has no preamp so you need a LOC to hook up a sub - at least on the base/enthusiast head unit.

I have one i got online from Dave Navone Engineering - worked great in my RSX - have yet to hook up the amp and get a sub for the Z.

Yes. This is the one that I am currently using. I tapped into the rear speaker wires for the signal:

For the remote turn-on wire, I used the rear cig lighter. If you're looking at the plug, you want the wire connecting to the horizontal pin.

the mounting bracket for the sub is there no matter what model you have...

you can purchase it seperately if you want to put one on the passenger side as well

HEY!!! THAT might be why my cig lighter plug no longer works...

it worked when i bought the car... but after i got my subs installed... no more cig lighter...

i only found out when i hooked up my power inverter to my socket and it didn't light up... i was dumbfounded... and though WTF???

thanks for the tip... for as much as i paid those A-Holes to do my install... they could have done SOOO MUCH a better job... so dissatisfied... or unsatisfied... whichever... anybody doing installs please inquire first so i can let you know where NOT to go...
