I could see the 2007 Z get faster times, even with only little more HP. But it would have to loose a bunch of weight. If it did I will be in 7th heaven. But most likely it will get even more weight and that will make the better engine look almost the same.

If they can fit the Titan V8 motor in our Z, the HR fitment should be snug compared to the V8 :-D

the titan v8 sticks out the top, thats the problem, and it took ALOT of work to get it right.

If the new 07 G35 Sedan is running a 13.8 quarter, 5.2 0-60 (Lets keep in mind, this is in its brand new, not broken in stage) with 306HP and in a 3600lbs body, I think its safe to say the 07 Z will be in the 13.4's and 5.0 0-60. You people are underestimating the power of this new VQ. Nissan is not playing games, this new motor is sick. Twin intakes, Twin Throttle Bodies, Dual exhaust, stock Iridium plugs...10 % increase in gas mileage, and it even earned S-ULEV emissions. Come on now...

Who posted the 1/4 mile number and what was the mph? can't find the source in the thread or Google...

Seems a bit high for bench racing though. Inside Line did a full test over a month ago, "Our tester tore up the track with a scorching 0-60-mph run of 5.6 seconds and a quarter-mile performance of 13.9 seconds at 102 mph."

Car and driver: "We took our test car to the track, where it hunkered down and dashed to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, covering the quarter-mile in 13.9 seconds at 103." (they do mention testing vehicle with only 250 miles on odometer, but I can't imagine break-in would shave more than a tenth or two off that time.)

Also interesting to find that Car and Driver has the BMW 335i sedan (3600lbs) completing the sprint to 60 in 4.8s and the quarter in 13.5 at 106! But that motor is probably producing more like 333hp at the crank.

I have the new motor trend with a G vs. the 330 comparo, both sedans and the G smokes the 330 by quite a bit. 335 is on another level. The 330 won the comparo for handling, but the G is faster.

using a qrt mile calc, if the Z is 300lbs lighter that the G35 sedan it could cut about 4 tenths off the 1/4 mile.

It's interesting trying to compare 1/4 times and 0-60 when only HP and weight are involved. It also tends to be highly inaccurate. Not to mention, were the times corrected to sea level? Or left at the actual measure taken at that altitude on that day? Too many other things influence these performance benchmarks to guess based on speculated HP and weight.
