Don't feel bad. By the time you are 18, you'll be able to pick up a used 350Z for $15K or so. You can already pick up used ones for $18K. There will be plenty for you to choose by the time you are driving. Just be happy you get a car whatever it is. When I turned 16, my parents bought me a used car. They gave it to me and paid for insurance. All I had to do was put gas in it. It was the most beautiful 1992 Hyundai Scoupe I ever saw because it was MINE.

I completely understand this. When your my age, you have to put yourself into your parent's mindframe to understand the choices they make. I love my mom and dad for everything they do for me, and I appreciate everything they have ever given me. I make straight A's in school and I try my hardest to give them every ounce of my respect, and gratitude. This is only a small part of my appreciation. I do anything to make my parents proud and to make my future successful. Again, I love my parents and I understand every decision they make. I can never say they have done nothing for me. They pay the bills, they feed me, and they put clothes on my back. If they stopped giving to me today, they would have given enough to me my whole life to reconcile. Anyways, I appreciate the opinions and advice. Nice to meet you all. <<<ZantiZipationZ

There are a disporportionate [sic?] amount of young, "my daddy bought my Z" members on this board.
I really cannot feel sorry for this poster.
P.S. If they can't afford the Z, maybe a Sentra?

No disrespect to anyone on this thread, but it sounds like a whole lotta resentment towards your own parents for not getting you what you wanted at the time you were his age. Granted, I know there are tons of spoiled kids out there that dont have much of an appreciation for anything (and I've read a bunch of posts about kids on here resenting their parents for getting them a base Z and not a Track Z, etc...) However, with that said, this kid doesn't sound anything like those kids. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders and doesn't resent his parents for their choice. Whats wrong with having a dream car and hoping that your parents will get it for you?
In this case, his parents said no, he graciously accepted that decision, but is sad nonetheless. Wouldn't you be? Seems like he appreciates everything he already has and everything his parents have provided up to now. Never hurts to ask when you want something. To the kid who originally posted, keep your head up, keep up the grades, get into a kickass college, get a kickass job when you graduate, get a car thats way better than the Z and buy your parents a nice sedan!!!

Helping your kids live above their means, may seem well intended, but is a disservice. In the end they cannot independently support their expected life style and become dependent on others. Instead, giving your kids stock on a yearly basis to hold or sell for investment, perhaps in real estate, is a service. If you doubt this logic, I recommend reading the Millionare Next Door.

I'm 16, I Own a 2006 350Z. Now I'm not going to lie and say my parents didn't help me, because they did and I'm extremely greatful of that. My parents take care of half the down payment (4k each) and they help me pay for all the insurance. While myself I take care of the car payments and all the other things. I work 5 days a week, 4-5 hours on weekdays and about 10 hours on weekends to keep my car. So there are still many ways that you could get the Z. I'm doing it, But then again I do have cool parents.

A job, Who wants a job?
A job will just get in the way of pot smoking marathons.
Tell your parents to get you that Z and you want more allowance.
If they say no teach them a lesson, kill the family pets.

a z is too much car
regardless of the fact that parents should not be paying 30k for a teenagers car is the fact that a car with 280 hp should be reserved for those that have several years of driving experience.
parents who buy a 280 hp car for a first time driver are borderline retarded...
