Default Water leaking into my '06

Everytime it rains or I wash my car I notice the passenger-side floormat gets soaked. I took my car to circuit city about 3 weeks ago to get some audio equipment installed and I'm wondering if they left a panel off. Is there supposed to be a panel covering the wiring under the dash on the passenger side of the car?

Thank god it's still under warranty! I'd get it back to the dealer before winter comes!

I really havent been all that concerned with it. I can take it to the dealer tomorrow (it'll give me an excuse to leave the office). I just figured I'd post/search here to see if anyone has had a similiar problem. I not sure if it's been leaking since I bought it because it's hard to notice the water sometimes.

I just took a few pictures of the area where the water is leaking in.

The seems to be leaking in through the right side in the under-dash pics(the big black cable gets soaked with water).

My guess is your Circuit City installer made a big hole in the rubber seal that the wiring harness you see getting wet goes through to install more wires. That big red wire in your pictures isn't factory, it was probably installed by your installer, looks like a power wire for an amplifier. If they didn't reseal the hole they made it will leak. The location in the firewall where the harness goes through is in an area that gets wet when it rains or you wash the car.
If you remove the battery cover and the battery you should be able to see where this wire comes through the firewall. I bet you can see the hole they made, probably being held open by the red wire they ran.
If that's what is happening your Nissan Dealer may not fix it for free since Circuit City busted it.
I'd go back to Circuit City and raise hell.

Good Luck with it.

Exactly what I was thinking...

The main harness rubber seal behind the battery..

They may have even just not even put that rubber part back in...

This will NOT be covered under warranty since it is tampered with...

Ill check on monday to see if that part is available seperately...

I agree completely with the last reactions. Water is coming in through a hole and possible follows some cables into your car where it starts to drip on the floor.

Even though I did mine myself and punctured a starter hole then pushed the cable through and put RTV to seal it - it still leaked because I had taken the boot out to do the work and then put it back in. I eventually got it to seal properly again but I doubt that your installer was carefull about it. The plastic covers are easy to get off - just pay attention to which ones go on top of the other and where the weather stripping goes and see what kind of damage they did
Hope you find something repairable! Black RTV from Autozone or any parts store works great if they just made too big of a hole in the rubber boot.

The Rubber finisher piece is not available seperately from the harness...

May not have helped anyway. The original boot is all one piece and every wire that runs through it would have to be disconnected from the car to pass through the new boot Unless the replacement has a zipper on it

I'm on my way back to Circuit City to have them repair. They caused the problem so they should fix it.

Had the same problem in my car with installation of my alarm, but mine was on the drivers side. Instead of running wires through the rubber stopper (i.e. drilling a needle hole and running the wires through, these guys popped the rubber seal out and ran the wires through the side leaving a big ol opening for all the water to come through. Fixed it myself, but it was a P.I.T.A. getting to it. No biggie, nothing to sweat about.

To Tsyle, You gotta pop off the plastic liner closest to your windshield. I had to remove both wipers to get the attachment completely off. Once you remove the wipers and plastic piece(s), its pretty easy to get to from that point. Don't need any tools or anything to pop it back in, just blunt manual force and it will pop back in.

The only problem I had was i needed to run my alarm wires through to the interior, so I had to drill a needle size hole in the black rubber stopper to run my wires. I'm guessing you also have some aftermarket work done like an alarm or audio equipment and the installers decided to just run the wires through the side of the stopper. If thats the case, DO NOT run the wires on the side and pop the piece back in, because it will seem like its popped in, but it will pop back out soon thereafter. You gotta drill a hole and run the wires through. I taped the wires to a coat hangar and ran them through the rubber piece. Made it a whole lot easier.

Hope this helps and PM me if you have any questions, as I think I still might have some pics on my computer from when I had to do this.
