36k mile service?
alright coming up to that mark, and trying to see what people have been paying, did you go to the dealer? what actually needs to be done, and what stuff can i do by myself. I've taken care of most of the braking system, new pads, rotors, etc, myself already so i know thats all good. this is my first car so i dont really know what to expect $ wise. thanks

Start with your mainteance manual & see what it says. I assume you have not done the 30 K service?
I had the dealer do my 30 K service but I'm mechanically incompetent. Dealer may try to sell you more services than manual states; just say "no" unless you think you need the extreas.

Instead of taking mine to the dealership for the 36k service, I took it to a highly reputable local mechanic my family deals with. In hindsight, it was a good move. Got the exact same service that the dealership would've provided for about $300 cheaper.
+1 on Rat's comment about making sure you only pay for the services you want if you go to the dealership. If you're not paying attention, they may end up trying to upsell you on something that's totally unnecessary.
