Unhappy Problem after recall done....HELP

I had the recall done on Friday and ever since then I get a weird feeling through the shifter. When I am slowing below 20 mph it is REALLY noticeable. It is a high frequency buzz on the shifter. The shifter doesn't move a ton but really fast. The shifter has never been all that isolated but now it seriously feels like I have a vibrator in my hand. It also sounds like the rear brakes are making more noise then before. I was about to call the dealer yesterday when it seemed to lessen significantly but now today it is doing it again. Do any of you know if anything they had to remove could have this kind of effect? I want to be more educated before I call them.

I was worried about the recall, now I know why.

I would def. take it in for service. The longer you wait then the more likely that they'll try to blame you for it. I know that they have to remove the driveshaft for this so it could be a more than minor prob. Good luck.

I was just looking over what all is involved with this today and I would say driveshaft was not properly marked before they disconnected it. I imagine it was installed in such a way to cause an imbalance translating into a vibration you can feel in the shifter.

I agree about wanting to call sooner rather then later. They are all about blaming you for things. I'll call then right now.

Oh for vo7848 - it was the fuel hose recall thing..do we have any others?

I was thinking a driveshaft balance problem too, any way to tell that from under the car?

Note to self: do not do this recall. The probability of Nissan screwing up the wheels, drive train or exhaust is 1 in 10. The probability of the car exploding in a ball of flames is 1 in a million.

What I can't figure out is whatever is causing the vibration how it could be intermittent. Seems like driveshaft would be all the time and get worse at higher speed?
The rear brakes still seem much noisier then before.
I think I’ll wait till it cools down outside and then jack the car up and see what there is to see. I'll take pics if there is anything interesting.

Someone posted the range of VIN #'s effected a couple months ago. I can't remember where it's posted at. You might wanna try a search.

Update - Jacked up the car and didn't really see anything that looked odd. I did notice the new bolts on the drive shaft(at least the actually did the work) but I didn't see any white marks to line up the shaft on re-install. What kind of problems could this cause?
The Good/Bad news is the problem has basically gone away on it's own. It may still vibrate a little more then before(Or could be my imagination) but nothing like right after the recall. Can't really get them to fix what currently has no symptoms. I'll have to just keep an eye on it.
I'm going to get a alignment today, I'll let you all know if it's WAY off.

That VIN # sheet that was posted was not correct, atleast not entirely... My Vin # was on that sheet but I never received a notice from Nissan so I took my Z to the dealership and they looked up the VIN # and said mine was not on it. <shrug>

i had the recall done and they messed up puttingthe exhaust back together. and then instead of just fixing it and admitting they were wrong, they ordered a whole new one and installed that one.
anyway i would take it in. but to those in the future, as long as it wouldnt affect insurance coverage, DO NOT TAKE IT TO NISSAN FOR THE RECALL. everytime afterwards i always felt nervous about the car. was this vibe always there? was it always this stiff? did it always make that sound? etc
may have been all mental but i'd rather be worried, and by worried i mean not worried at all, about my car catching fire than some 18 yr old kid putting back togehter my car. i work on aircraft and we wing alot of ish, i can only imagine a car

I think I will take Davidv's advice on this one.

Well, about your brakes.... i would have them checked out man, here's a horror story of horror stories for you:

I had the fuel hose filler recall done, I did get the letter so I took it in. They got me a great time and were really helpful. Well I went back to pick it up, then I told my mom I would pick up my sister from high school and take her home, a 30 minute drive. Well I pull out of the dealership and notice that there is a squeeking noise coming from the rear, and it goes away when I press the brakes - odd - so I turned around and went back to the dealer.

The mechanic that did the work took it around the lot and said he didnt hear anything. So I argued a little bit and left. Picked up my sister, noticed the squeeking again, but made it home safely.

The next morning I had to leave my house at 7:30 to go take an exam. We have a 2 mile driveway, and about a 1/3 mile before it ends, there is a sharp 90 degree turn. well i was going 60, and press the brakes to slow down. The car isn't stopping... i about freaked the hell out... put it in nuetral and pulled the ebrake (the front brakes still seemed to work, partly) as hard as i could. i managed to stop right before the turn. i slowly pulled over on the side of the driveway.... get out....

the F****'n brakes FELL OFF. I was IRATE. The calipers were dragging on my wheels (stock at the time). I could not believe it. (oh yeah, I didn't pass my exam ). I called the dealership and they tried to give me the "oh the boss isn't in" so I loudly communicated that my brakes had fallen off and I need to speak with someone. So they put me through to the service manager.

They are extremely embarassed - so they pay for the tow truck to come get me and the car after the exam, luckily i was able to borrow my parents car. they get there and the two guys checking it out are just shaking their heads... can't believe that an ASA certified and master mechanic would do such a thing.

Aparently, they didnt have the new caliper bolts in stock, so the guy either just didnt put them in or put the wrong ones in to hold the calipers to the rotors.

Oh I was extremely angry, because if the brakes had fallen off 15 minutes later I would have been on a major interstate, and would not have been able to stop... either crash or fatality stuff right there.

So here's how they resolve the situation:
Gave me a Mazda6 for 10 days free of charge, even with extra insurance and gas.
Detailed the car.
Give me Nismo Parts at cost (which I still havent gotten a price quote for)

They had the car 10 days because they couldnt get the correct washers and bolts to hold it on and had to get in touch with the engineer in charge of production and pull some off the production line.

/end horror story
