Talking Sunroof

Anyone out there thinking about cutting a hole in your roof? Judging by the shape of the roof line it would have to be one
of those that come up and out. The kind that slide back like
you see on the Mazda 626's. I enjoy the sunroof in my 01
Maxima, even if you don't have it open but you can let the
light in. I'm guessing it would cost 800-1000 to get a good one.

Um, I have to say "No." The roof is an integral part of the body structure and contributes to the overall rigidity of the car. Taking it, or bits of it, out, would likely have adverse effects. Just look at the average convertible. It weighs more than the hardtop because additional material is required to achieve the same stiffness.

get the convertible if you really want open top.

the top of the coupe is really small. doesn't seem like it'll fit a sunroof. plus, if you get the sunroof that pops out and slides back, then it'll get obliterated when you open the rear hatchback.

i would be more worried about a hap-hazard install than the structure aspect. I've seen some cars with aftermarket sunroofs and damn it was a crappy job. Problems with leaking and alignment.

There's also the issue of the significant curve in the roof which would make getting a sunroof more difficult. It would have to be made to fit this car.

Thumbs down I'd rather a hole in my head!!!

I would'nt mind having a T-Top but to be frank ( or maybe John), I have little use for the sunroof I have in my Pathfinder. I also had a friend who was killed in part because of the sun roof in his truck. I'll pass this time around.

Nope. Cutting the roof probably wouldn't be the best thing to do.
